The Netherlands men's national volleyball team represents the Netherlands in FIVB tournaments. Volleyball is the most popular indoor sport in the country, with over 125,000 associates. [1] The team had their most successful phase beginning in the 1990s under coaches Arie Selinger and Joop Alberda, reaching various finals for international tournaments and winning both the Olympic Games and the World League in 1996. [2] Netherlands in World Championship won silver medal 1994 in Greece.

Volleyball is a popular sport in the United States with both male and female participants of all ages. Almost all high schools and colleges in the United States have female volleyball teams, and most regions of the country have developmental programs for girls of all ages as well. While many areas of the country are forming male teams and development programs, there are still fewer opportunities for young male athletes to play volleyball in the United States than for young female athletes. Men's volleyball is a fast-growing sport among high schools, with 36 states having male volleyball programs. Most men's seasons are in the spring while women's seasons take place primarily in the fall; however, there are a few men's teams such as in Wisconsin, Virginia, and New York who play in the fall as well.
The Italy men's national volleyball team represents the country in international competitions and friendly matches. The national team is controlled by the Italian Volleyball Federation, the governing body for Volleyball in Italy. It is one of the most successful national teams in the history of volleyball, having won four World Championships, seven European Championships, one World Cup (1995) and eight World League. Italy is the reigning World champion, having won 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship.
Sebastiaan Jacques Henri "Bas" van de Goor is a retired volleyball player from the Netherlands who represented his native country at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1996. He was elected twice as the most valuable player of the Olympics.
Avital Haim Selinger is a volleyball coach and former volleyball player. Selinger played with the Netherlands men's national volleyball team at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, and the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, where he won a silver medal.
Arie Selinger is an Israeli volleyball coach and former player. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest volleyball coaches of all time. He is credited with transforming the United States women's national volleyball team into a powerhouse in the 1980s.
Peter Blangé is a retired volleyball player from the Netherlands who represented his native country in four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1988 in Seoul. Four years later, he helped the Dutch national team win the silver medal in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Blangé then won the gold medal with the national team in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta by defeating Italy in the final. His final Olympic appearance as an athlete was in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. He was a setter.
Misha Jonas Emanuel Latuhihin is a retired volleyball player from the Netherlands, who represented his native country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia under the guidance of coach Joop Alberda. There he was the stand-in for Peter Blangé in the Dutch National Volleyball Team that won the gold medal by defeating rivals Italy in the final (3-2).

Joop Alberda is a retired volleyball coach from the Netherlands. He won a gold medal as coach of the Netherlands men's national volleyball team in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia by defeating Italy in the final (3-2).
