The Northerns women's cricket team, also known as Fidelity Titans and previously known as Northern Transvaal women's cricket team, is the women's representative cricket team for the South African region of Tshwane. They compete in the CSA Women's One-Day Cup, which they have won three times, and the CSA Women's T20 Challenge. [1]
The side first appeared in the Simon Trophy, as Northern Transvaal, in the 1951–52 season and played in the tournament until 1959–60. [2] As Northerns, they next competed in the Inter-Provincial Tournament in 1995–96, and have competed in the tournament ever since. [1] They first won the tournament in 1998–99, beating North West in the final. [3] They next won the tournament in 2010–11, finishing second in their group to qualify for the knockout stages before beating Boland in the semi-final and KwaZulu-Natal in the final. [4] They retained their title the following season, going unbeaten in the group stages before beating KwaZulu-Natal in the semi-final. [5] They then beat Western Province in the final by 161 runs, with Marizanne Kapp making 106. [6]
They have also competed in the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition since its inception in 2012–13. [1] They have finished as runners-up in the competition twice, in 2013–14 and 2015–16. [7] [8]
In August 2023, it was announced that a new professional domestic system would be implemented for women's cricket in South Africa. As one of the six teams in the top division of the two domestic competitions, Northerns would be allowed eleven professional players from the 2023–24 season onwards. [9] [10]

The CSA 4-Day Domestic Series is the domestic first class cricket competition of South Africa. The tournament is contested by teams from all nine provinces of South Africa.
The CSAOne-Day Cup is the premier domestic one-day cricket competition of South Africa, its matches having List A status. Matches are usually played partly under lights as day-night matches and occasionally get larger crowds than the Test matches.
Dané van Niekerk is a South African cricketer born in Pretoria and educated at Hoërskool Centurion. A right-handed batter and leg break bowler, she played for South Africa in Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODI) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) between 2009 and 2021, and was captain of the side between 2016 and 2021. She was the first bowler for South Africa to take 100 wickets in WODIs. On 16 March 2023, she announced her retirement from international cricket.
Marizanne Kapp is a South African international cricketer who plays for South Africa national women's cricket team. She was the first cricketer for South Africa to take a hat-trick in a Women's Twenty20 International match.
The Africa T20 Cup was a Twenty20 cricket tournament organised by Cricket South Africa. It featured a combination of South African provincial teams and teams representing other African countries, including Kenya, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. It ran for four years before being replaced by the CSA Provincial T20 Cup.
Marques Jannie Ackerman is a South African first-class cricketer. He was included in the North West squad for the 2016 Africa T20 Cup. In August 2017, he was named in Durban Qalandars' squad for the first season of the T20 Global League. However, in October 2017, Cricket South Africa initially postponed the tournament until November 2018, with it being cancelled soon after.
Tony De Zorzi is a South African cricketer. He was included in the Northerns squad for the 2016 Africa T20 Cup. He made his Twenty20 (T20) debut for Northerns against Kenya on 16 September 2016. Prior to his T20 debut, he was named as captain of South Africa's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
The 2019–20 CSA Provincial T20 Cup was a domestic Twenty cricket tournament that took place in South Africa in September 2019, as a curtain-raiser to the 2019–20 South African domestic season. It was played between the thirteen South African provincial teams, along with Limpopo and Mpumalanga. This was the sixth edition of the CSA Provincial T20 Cup, which was last played in the 2015–16 season. With only domestic teams from South Africa taking part, the tournament returned in place of the Africa T20 Cup, which had been held since 2015.
The 2021–22 CSA Provincial T20 Knock-Out was a Twenty20 cricket tournament that was played in South Africa in September and October 2021. It was the first Twenty20 tournament to be played in the country since Cricket South Africa restructured its domestic setup, and featured all fifteen provincial sides and the national under-19 team.
The CSA Women's One-Day Cup, previously known as the CSA Women's Provincial Programme, is a women's domestic one-day cricket competition organised by Cricket South Africa. The competition currently sees sixteen provincial teams competing in 50-over matches, and has existed, under various names, since the 1995–96 season.
