Prenzler was born in 1958 in Kästorf near Gifhorn in Lower Saxony, Germany. [1] He was a European Junior silver medallist in the 100 metres in 1977. In 1979 he was the East German 100 metres champion; he also won the national 200 metres in 1978, and 1983.
Prenzler was the East German indoor 200 metres champion on three occasions.
At the 1978 European Championships he won silver medals in the 200 metres and in the 4 × 100 metres relay, the latter with teammates Manfred Kokot, Eugen Ray and Alexander Thieme.
He participated in the 1980 Summer Olympics, in the 200 metres but was eliminated in the semi-finals. [1]
At the 1982 European Championships he won the Gold in the 200 metres. In the 4 × 100 metres relay he won a silver medal with teammates Thomas Munkelt, Detlef Kübeck and Frank Emmelmann.
He won a silver medal in 200 m at the 1985 European Indoor Championships.
At the 1986 European Championships he finished sixth in 100 m and seventh in 200 m. He then won another silver medal in the 4 × 100 metres relay with teammates Thomas Schröder, Steffen Bringmann and Frank Emmelmann.
He represented the sports team SC Magdeburg and became East German champion in 1978 (200 m), 1979 (100 m) and 1983 (200 m). [2] In July 1982 he helped established an East German relay record with 38.28 seconds.
Allan Wipper Wells is a Scottish former track and field sprinter who became the 100 metres Olympic champion at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Within a fortnight of that, he also took on and beat America's best sprinters at an invitational meeting in Koblenz. In 1981, Wells was both the IAAF Golden Sprints and IAAF World Cup gold medallist. He is also a three-time European Cup gold medallist among many other sprint successes.
Petra Schersing is a retired East German sprinter who specialised in the 400 metres. She represented sports club SC Chemie Halle and was coached by Harold Werner. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, she won a silver medal in the 400 metres and a bronze medal in the 4×400 metres relay.

Heather Regina Oakes is a female English former sprinter who competed mainly in the 100 metres. In the 4 × 100m relay, she won Olympic bronze medals in Moscow 1980 and Los Angeles 1984. She won the Commonwealth Games 100 metres title in Edmonton 1978 and won an Olympic bronze medal in the 4 x 100 metres relay at the 1980 Moscow Games. In the 1977 Track and Field News world merit rankings, she was ranked number two in the world at both 100 metres and 200 metres.
Sabine Busch is a retired East German athlete, who specialised in the 400 metres and the 400 metres hurdles. In 1987, she became the World Champion at 400 m hurdles and the World Indoor Champion at 400 m.
Norbert Dobeleit is a German television personality and retired athlete. During his active career he represented West Germany and specialized in the 200 and 400 metres.
Michael Anthony McFarlane OBE is a retired British athlete who competed mainly in the 100 metres and 200 metres. He won an Olympic silver medal in the 4×100 metres relay at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He was the 200 m gold medallist at the 1982 Commonwealth Games and a 60 metres gold medallist at the 1985 European Athletics Indoor Championships. McFarlane won two further sprint medals at the 1986 Commonwealth Games.
