Ouk chaktrang events at the 2023 SEA Games were held at the Royal University of Phnom Penh Indoor Hall. 7 events, contested by 7 nations, were held from 29 April to 9 May 2023. [1] [2] [3] Ouk chaktrang, or Cambodian chess, is a form of chess similar to Makruk of Thailand.
The competition started from 29 April before the opening ceremony, which is scheduled to be held on 5 May 2023. [4] The preliminary rounds are held earlier than opening ceremony.

Makruk, or Thai chess, is a strategy board game that is descended from the 6th-century Indian game of chaturanga or a close relative thereof, and is therefore related to chess. It is part of the family of chess variants.

The joint bid from the three cities was awarded the Games on 13 January 2023, after Thailand was confirmed as the host country by the Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF). It was the first time that the host cities were selected to host the Southeast Asian Games through a new bidding and election process.

Kun Khmer competitions at the 2023 SEA Games took place at Morodok Techo National Stadium, Phnom Penh. Kun Khmer or Pradal serey is an ancient Cambodian variation of Kick boxing, dating back to the Khmer Empire in the 9th century AD. A total of 19 medals were awarded.
