PING/Welch's Championship

The PING/Welch's Championship was an annual golf tournament for professional female golfers on the LPGA Tour. [1] Founded in 1980 as the Boston Five Classic, it took place every year in the Greater Boston area from 1980 through 1997. It was played at the Ferncroft Country Club in Danvers from 1980 to 1990 and at the Blue Hill Country Club in Canton from 1991 to 1997.

Contents

The tournament has had a variety of sponsors during its history. Its last title sponsors were Ping, a brand of golf equipment and Welch's, a North American producer of fruit juices.

The Portland Classic is a women's professional golf tournament in Oregon on the LPGA Tour. Founded 52 years ago in 1972, the annual event in the Portland area is the oldest continuous event on the LPGA Tour. The Welch's/Fry's Championship was a golf tournament for professional female golfers that was part of the LPGA Tour from 1981 to 2004. It was played at the Randolph Golf Course in Tucson, Arizona. From 1981 to 2002, it was played on the North Course and in 2003 and 2004 it was played on the Dell Urich Course.

The Toto Japan Classic is an annual women's professional golf tournament in Japan, jointly sanctioned by the two richest women's professional tours: the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and the LPGA of Japan Tour. It was an unofficial money event on the LPGA Tour from 1973 to 1975. It has taken place every year since 1973 at various locations, and is typically held in early November. From 2006 through 2015, the event has been played at Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club in Shima, Mie. It took place annually from 1986 through 2006 and returned to the tour schedule in 2010 at the Bay Course at the Dolce Seaview Resort, with a prize fund of $1.75 million. Purchased in September 2010, the resort is now known as Seaview, A Dolce Hotel.

Louise Friberg is a Swedish professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the United States–based LPGA Tour.

The Star Bank LPGA Classic was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1994 to 2001. It was played at the Country Club of the North in Beavercreek, Ohio. During most of its existence, it was sponsored by either Star Banc Corporation or its corporate successor Firstar Corporation.

The HealthSouth Inaugural was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1980 to 1999. It was played at several courses in Florida. HealthSouth Corporation sponsored the event from 1993 to 1999.

The McDonald's Championship was a women's professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1981 through 1993. The first six years were hosted by White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pennsylvania, northwest of Philadelphia. In 1987, it moved a short distance south to DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Phar-Mor at Inverrary was a women's professional golf tournament in Florida on the LPGA Tour, held from 1990 through 1992. The 54-hole event was played in February at the Inverrary Country Club in Lauderhill, northwest of Fort Lauderdale. It was sponsored by Phar-Mor, an Ohio-based chain of discount drug stores, which also sponsored the Phar-Mor in Youngstown.

The Jamaica Classic was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1989 to 1991. It was played at the Tryall Golf Club in Jamaica.

The Potamkin Cadillac Classic was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1968 to 1984 sponsored by Victor Potamkin. It was played at three different courses in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Ferncroft Country Club is a country club owned and operated by Affinity Management, located in Essex County, Massachusetts with portions of the club's grounds in the towns of Middleton and Topsfield. The club's entrance is at 10 Village Road in Middleton.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Arizona Wildcats women's golf</span> American college golf team

The Arizona Wildcats women's golf is considered one of the best in all of women's collegiate golf, dating back to their first season in 1979. Since they have won three national championships in 1996, 2000, and 2018. The Wildcat Women have also had four individual national champions with Susan Slaughter in (1990), Annika Sörenstam in (1991), Marisa Baena in (1996) and Jenna Daniels in (2000).
