Pan American Artistic Swimming Championships

The Swimming Union of the Americas organizes Pan American Championships for the sport of artistic swimming (formerly, synchronized swimming). These are considered the official continental championships for the Americas (comprising North America, South America, Central America and the Caribbean). [1]

Synchronized swimming

Synchronised swimming or artistic swimming is a hybrid form of swimming, dance, and gymnastics, consisting of swimmers performing a synchronised routine of elaborate moves in the water, accompanied by music. Artistic swimming is governed internationally by FINA, and has been part of the Summer Olympics programme since 1984.

FINA International governing body for aquatic sports

FINA is the international federation recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for administering international competitions in water sports. It is one of several international federations which administer a given sport or discipline for the IOC and international community. It is based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The 2006 European Swimming Championships were held in Budapest, Hungary, from 26 July – 6 August 2006. Disciplines include swimming, diving, synchronised swimming (synchro) and open water swimming. European Water Polo Championships for 2006 were also organized by LEN, but held separately.

2010 European Aquatics Championships

The 2010 European Aquatics Championships were held from 4–15 August 2010 in Budapest and Balatonfüred, Hungary. It was the fourth time that the city of Budapest hosts this event after 1926, 1958 and 2006. Events in swimming, diving, synchronised swimming (synchro) and open water swimming were scheduled.

The FINA Synchronised Swimming World Trophy is an annual, international synchronised swimming event, organized by FINA. To highlight the beauty of synchronised swimming, this competition differ from other top-level international competitions: scores are given for the Artistic Impression only, accessories or equipment are permitted, etc. It was first held in 2006.

Mary Killman is an American synchronized swimmer. After switching to synchronized swimming from race swimming, Killman was a member of the teams that won silver medals in the duet and team competitions at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico and 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Lara Teixeira is a Brazilian synchronized swimmer. She competed in the women's duet at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics and was part of the Brazilian team at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Her partner in 2008 and 2012 was Nayara Figueria. The team of Teixeira and Figueria were known for their innovative choreography and irreverent costumes.

Jacqueline Simoneau is a Canadian synchronized swimmer.

Aleksandr Maltsev (synchronised swimmer) Russian swimmer

Aleksandr Evgenyevich Maltsev is a Russian synchronised swimmer, two-times World champion and four-times European champion. He was recognized as the best male artistic swimmer in 2015 and 2017 by FINA. He is a pioneer in Russian artistic swimming.

Danielle Kettlewell Australian synchronised swimmer

Danielle Merlyn Kettlewell is an Australian synchronised swimmer. She competed in the team event at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Canada at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships Sporting event delegation

Canada competed at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary from 14 July to 30 July.

Mayuko Fujiki Japanese synchronized swimmer (born 1975)

Mayuko Fujiki) is a synchronized swimming coach originally from Japan. She is the head coach of the Spanish National Synchronized Swimming Team.

Ethan Calleja Australian synchronised swimmer

Ethan Christopher Calleja is an Australian synchronised swimmer. He is the first male synchronised swimmer to compete internationally for Australia. Together with Danielle Kettlewell he placed fifth in the mixed duet event at the 2019 FINA World Aquatic Championships.

Julie Sauvé was a Canadian synchronized swimming coach. Sauvé began her coaching career with the Club Aquatique Montréal Olympique in the 1970s before joining the Canadian synchronized swimming team in 1982. She continued to coach at the Club Aquatique Montréal Olympique until she was fired in 1993. While with the Canadian synchronized swimming team, Sauvé coached Olympic medallists Sylvie Fréchette, Penny Vilagos and Vicky Vilagos. After leaving the Canadian team in 2012, Sauvé coached the synchronized swimming teams of Brazil and Singapore during the remainder of the 2010s. Sauvé was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2012.

Sylvie Fortier is a Canadian former synchronized swimmer. She won medals in Canadian provincial and national competitions, at the World Aquatics Championships, the Pan American Games and the Pan Pacific Games. Fortier was named the 1976 world champion in synchronized swimming for her achievements that year and was a torch bearer for the opening ceremony of the Montreal Summer Olympics. She retired in 1977 aged just 18. Fortier is an inductee of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and the Aquatics Hall of Fame.

Halle Pratt is a Canadian synchronized swimmer, joining the national team in 2017. Fiola-Dion won a gold medal in the team artistic swimming category at the 2019 Pan American Games. She placed sixth in the team competition at the 2016 FINA World Junior Synchronised Swimming Championships. Pratt was a training member of Canada's national team in the lead-up to the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics which were postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her brother is Cole Pratt who competes on Canada's competitive swimming team in the backstroke and medley events.
