Pinnoctopus is a genus of octopuses in the family Octopodidae. It is of doubtful validity.
ITIS treats Pinnoctopus as a synonym of Octopus Cuvier, 1797. While the World Register of Marine Species treats it as a nomen dubium, has P. cordiformis as a species of doubtful validity and assigns P. kermadecensis to Octopus. [1]
Sea spiders are marine arthropods of the order Pantopoda, belonging to the class Pycnogonida, hence they are also called pycnogonids. They are cosmopolitan, found in oceans around the world. There are over 1,300 known species, with legs ranging from 1 mm (0.04 in) to over 70 cm (2.3 ft). Most are toward the smaller end of this range in relatively shallow depths; however, they can grow to be quite large in Antarctic and deep waters.
Pholidoteuthis is a genus of squid in the monotypic family Pholidoteuthidae, comprising at least two species. The defunct genus Tetronychoteuthis was previously incorporated into Pholidoteuthidae based upon a singular taxon known as Tetronychoteuthis massyae. Following the discovery of Pholidoteuthis boschmai in 1950, T. massaye was placed into Pholidoteuthis, with Tetronoychoteuthis considered a nomen dubium. P. boschmai is now considered a junior synonym of P. massyae.
In binomial nomenclature, a nomen dubium is a scientific name that is of unknown or doubtful application.
Mandschurosaurus is a genus of hadrosaurs based on material from the Upper Cretaceous of China.
Taoniinae is a subfamily containing ten genera of glass squids.
Ranitomeya rubrocephala is a species of frog of doubtful taxonomic status in the family Dendrobatidae.
Amphioctopus is a genus of octopuses comprising around 16 species.
Pleurotoma mediocris is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Turridae.
In biological classification, a species inquirenda is a species of doubtful identity requiring further investigation. The use of the term in English-language biological literature dates back to at least the early nineteenth century.
Cocculina is a genus of sea snails, deep-sea limpets, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Cocculinidae.
Bullia is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Nassariidae, the Nassa mud snails or dog whelks.
Leptothyra is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Colloniidae.
Chicoreus is a genus of medium to large sized predatory sea snails. These are carnivorous marine gastropod molluscs in the family Muricidae, the murexes or rock snails.
Platevindex is a genus of air-breathing sea slugs, a shell-less marine pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the family Onchidiidae.
Octopoteuthis is a genus of squid. It is one of two genera in the family Octopoteuthidae, the other being Taningia. Both Octopoteuthis and Taningia are characterized by their lack of tentacles for the majority of their life cycle, and have traits characteristic of both squids and octopods. The species limits of the genus are in need of further research, for example some authorities have stated that the Mediterranean species Octopoteuthis sicula is apparently the senior synonym of Octopoteuthis danae and that it is very closely related to, or possibly conspecific with, Octopoteuthis megaptera.
Scrobicularia is a genus of bivalve mollusc belonging to the family Semelidae. It is sometimes placed in its own family, Scrobicularidae.
Pinnoctopus cordiformis is a species of octopus found around the coasts of New Zealand.
Japetella is a genus of pelagic octopods from the subfamily Bolitaeninae in the family Amphitretidae. It contains at least one species but another two have been questionably raised with Japetella heathi being of doubtful validity, although currently accepted and Japetella taningi being classed as a nomen dubium.
