Pool and Tehidy (Cornish: Poll ha Tihydin) [5] is an electoral division of Cornwall in the United Kingdom which returns one member to sit on Cornwall Council. The current councillor is Conservative Philip Desmonde. [6]

Extent

The current Pool and Tehidy division represents the villages of Pool and Illogan Highway, and the hamlets of South Tehidy, Roscroggan, Tolskithy, and Trevenson. The Tehidy manor is also included in the division, but much of the estate is part of the neighbouring Illogan and Portreath division. The hamlet of Penhallick is shared with the Four Lanes, Beacon and Troon division. [7]

Extent

Pool and Tehidy represented the village of Pool, and the hamlets of South Tehidy, Roscroggan, and Trevenson. The Tehidy manor was also included in the division, but much of the estate was part of the neighbouring Illogan division. The division covered 697 hectares in total. [10]

Redruth is a town and civil parish in Cornwall, England. The population of Redruth was 14,018 at the 2011 census. The hilltop site is situated approximately one mile (1.6 km) southwest of Redruth. The settlements of Bosleake, Brea, Broad Lane, Carn Arthen, Carn Brea Village, Carnkie, Four Lanes, Grillis, Illogan Highway, Pencoys, Penhallick, Piece, Pool, Tolskithy, Tregajorran, Treskillard, Tuckingmill and West Tolgus are in the parish.

Camborne-Redruth was an urban district in Cornwall, England, from 1934 to 1974. It was formed as a merger of Camborne and Redruth urban districts along with parts of Redruth Rural District and Helston Rural District. The towns are about four miles apart and form a loose conurbation.

From 1973 to 2005 elections were for Cornwall County Council, with the first election for the new unitary Cornwall Council held in June 2009. Originally a rural area supporting itself by farming and agriculture, Illogan shared in the general leap into prosperity brought about by the mining boom, which was experienced by the whole Camborne-Redruth area.

Tucking Mill was the Cornish term for a fulling mill which was where homespun cloth was dipped, cleansed and dressed. There is a mention of a fulling mill in this region as early as 1250. The ecclesiastical parish of Tuckingmill was constituted in 1845, being carved out of a western section of the parish of Illogan and an eastern section of Camborne parish.
