Pope Theodoros I of Alexandria, also known as St. Theodorus (Theodore), was the 45th Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark from 730 to 742.^[1]^[2] He was a monk in a monastery near Mariout, which was known as the monastery of Tanboura, under the guidance of a virtuous elder called Yoannis (John). Coptic literature states that Yoannis was inspired by the Holy Spirit that his disciple Theodoros would one day become a Pope and he told those who were in authority.

It is said that Theodoros struggled in his worship, and was perfect in his humility and meekness. He was selected to become the Pope of Alexandria. During his papacy he shepherded his flock by reading and preaching to his people, especially on Sundays and on feast days. He completed 12 years of papacy and died in peace.

He is also known as Theodosius II in Coptic history.

St. Agathon was a disciple of Pope Benjamin I, the 38th Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church so when Pope Benjamin had to flee to avoid persecution by the Chalcedonians, Agathon remained and led the church.

Pope Shenouda I of Alexandria was the 55th Coptic Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark (859–880). He is commemorated in the Coptic Synaxarion on the 1st day of Baramudah. Prior to his election, he had been oikonomos of the Monastery of St Macarius - one of his early acts as patriarch was the improve the freshwater supply to Alexandria. He was described as a model of monastic humility who prayed regularly for the forgiveness of his enemies.

It is one of three Peterine Sees affirmed by the council alongside the Patriarch of Antioch and the Patriarch of Rome. The current holder of this position is Pope Tawadros II, who was selected as the 118th pope on November 18, 2012.

Pope Mark VII of Alexandria (Abba Marcos VII), 106th Pope of Alexandria & Patriarch of the See of St. Mark. Pope Mark VII was born in the city of Klosna, in the district of El Bahnasa, and his lay name was Simeon. He joined the Monastery of Saint Anthony at a young age, then moved to the Monastery of Saint Paul the Anchorite, where he became a monk and was ordained a priest. When Pope John XVII departed, he was chosen to succeed him. Pope Mark VII was ordained Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria on Sunday, 24 Pashons, 1461 A.M. (30 May 1745 AD) on the day of the feast of the entry of Christ to Egypt.

Pope John XVIII of Alexandria (Abba Youannis) was the 107th Pope of Alexandria & Patriarch of the See of St. Mark from 1769 to 1796. Pope John XVIII was born in Fayoum, Egypt. His lay name was Joseph. He became a monk in the Monastery of Saint Anthony. At the departure of Pope Mark VII, he was unanimously chosen to succeed him. He was ordained at the church of Saint Mercurius Church in Coptic Cairo, on Sunday, 15 Paopi, 1486 A.M. (23 October 1769 AD)
