Poromyoidea is a superfamily of molluscs. It used to contain only the family Poromyidae, but now it also contains Cetoconchidae Ridewood, 1903, [1] as Cetoconcha Dall, 1886 was removed from Poromyidae and given its own family, according to the World Register of Marine Species. [2] [3]
Members of Poromyoidea are: [2] [3]
The Clionidae are a family of sea angels, which are a group of pelagic marine gastropods.
The Arcida is an extant order of bivalve molluscs. This order dates back to the lower Ordovician period. They are distinguished from related groups, such as the mussels, by having a straight hinge to the shells, and the adductor muscles being of equal size. The duplivincular ligament, taxodont dentition, and a shell microstructure consisting of the outer crossed lamellar and inner complex crossed lamellar layers are defining characters of this order.
Pyramidellinae is a taxonomic subfamily of minute sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Pyramidellidae, the pyrams and their allies.
Heteroconchia is a taxonomic infraclass of diverse bivalve molluscs, belonging to the subclass Autobranchia.
Mactridae, common name the trough shells or duck clams, is a family of saltwater clams, marine bivalve mollusks in the order Venerida.
Solemyidae is a family of saltwater clams, marine protobranch bivalve mollusks in the order Solemyida.
Poromyidae is a family of saltwater clams, marine bivalve molluscs in the order Anomalodesmata. The genus Dilemma, described in 2008, is remarkable for being a predator of copepods, which is very unusual for a sessile mollusc.
Verticordiidae is a family of benthic marine bivalves in the superorder Anomalodesmata. These clams range from 2 - 200 millimeters in length and are mainly found in coastal waters surrounding Australia and the Americas, though a few species within this family such as Haliris mediopacifica are found in the middle of the ocean. Verticordiidae is known for being a family of septibranchs, or predatory bivalves, rather than filter feeders. Clams dig vertical burrows in substrate and use papillae around the edges of their inhalant siphons to detect microscopic prey. Some clams in this family, specifically in the genus Trigonulina, have distinct extended circular formations on their shells.
Turritriton is a genus of medium-sized sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the family Cymatiidae. This is often still regarded merely as a subgenus of the genus Cymatium.
Lottiidae is a family of sea snails, specifically true limpets, marine gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Lottioidea and the clade Patellogastropoda.
Solariellidae is a family of small sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Trochoidea.
Bittium is a genus of very small sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the family Cerithiidae, the horn snails.
Pyramidella is a genus of minute to medium-sized sea snails, marine gastropod mollusk in the subfamily Pyramidellinae of the family Pyramidellidae, the pyrams and their allies.
Cryptogemma is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Turridae, the turrids.
Vetulonia is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks, unassigned in the superfamily Seguenzioidea.
Sigatica is a genus of predatory sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Naticidae, the moon snails.
Benthonella is a genus of minute sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks or micromollusks in the family Rissoidae.
Benthonellania is a genus of minute sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks or micromollusks in the family Rissoidae.
Gastrochaena is a genus of saltwater clams, marine bivalve molluscs in the family Gastrochaenidae. The type species of this genus is Gastrochaena cuneiformis.
Cetoconcha is the only extant genus of saltwater clams in the family Cetoconchidae.
