Porter Crossroads is an unincorporated community in Porter Township, Porter County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. [1]

History

A post office was established at Porter Crossroads in 1844, and remained in operation until 1873. [2] Porter was the name of an early postmaster. [3]

The phrase resonated with many Americans. Porter was later court martialed; he resigned and then joined and became commander-in-chief of the Mexican Navy. Porter County, Indiana was named after him.
