Linyphiidae Family of spiders

Linyphiidae, spiders commonly known as sheet weavers, or money spiders is a family of very small spiders comprising 4706 described species in 620 genera worldwide. This makes Linyphiidae the second largest family of spiders after the Salticidae. The family is poorly understood due to their small body size and wide distribution; new genera and species are still being discovered throughout the world. The newest such genus is Himalafurca from Nepal, formally described in April 2021 by Tanasevitch. Since it is so difficult to identify such tiny spiders, there are regular changes in taxonomy as species are combined or divided.

Cambridgea Genus of spiders

Cambridgea is a spider genus in the family Desidae and some of the first endemic spiders described from New Zealand. They are known for constructing large horizontal sheet webs measuring up to a square metre in larger species. Cambridgea were originally assigned to the Agelenidae by Dalmas in 1917 but were reassigned to the Stiphidiidae in 1973. Most recently, both Cambridgea and sister genus Nanocambridgea were reassigned to the Desidae, subfamily Porteriinae on the basis of molecular evidence.

Cambridgea elegans is a species of spiders in the genus Cambridgea found in New Zealand.

Cambridgea decorata is a species of spiders in the genus Cambridgea found only in New Zealand. It is classified as "data deficient" under the New Zealand Threat Classification System. The only published records are of specimens collected in the 1940s from Parnell, and Waiheke Island (females). Both localities are in Auckland.

Laetesia Genus of spiders

Laetesia is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1908.

Nanocambridgea Genus of spiders

Nanocambridgea is a monotypic genus of intertidal spiders containing the single species, Nanocambridgea gracilipes. It was first described by Raymond Robert Forster & C. L. Wilton in 1973, and is found on New Zealand. Originally placed with the Stiphidiidae, it was moved to the Desidae after a 2017 genetic study. A male described as N. grandis in 2000 was synonymized with Cambridgea reinga in 2011.

Cassafroneta is a monotypic genus of South Pacific dwarf spiders containing the single species, Cassafroneta forsteri. It was first described by A. D. Blest in 1979, and has only been found in New Zealand.

Megafroneta is a genus of South Pacific dwarf spiders that was first described by A. D. Blest in 1979. As of May 2019 it contains only three species, found in New Zealand: M. dugdaleae, M. elongata, and M. gigas.

Plectophanes hollowayae Species of spider

Plectophanes hollowayae is a species of araneomorph spider in the family Cycloctenidae. This species is endemic to New Zealand and was first described by Ray Forster in 1964 and named in honour of Beverley Holloway. The holotype specimen was collected by Beverley Holloway and Richard Dell at Solomon Island, off Stewart Island, during the 1955 Dominion Museum expedition.
