The Quebec general election of 1897 was held on May 11, 1897 to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Quebec, Canada. The Quebec Liberal Party, led by Félix-Gabriel Marchand, defeated the incumbent Quebec Conservative Party, led by Edmund James Flynn.

The party was founded by Maurice Duplessis, who led it until his death in 1959.
Marchand died in office in 1900, and was succeeded by Simon-Napoléon Parent as Liberal leader and premier.
Simon-Napoléon Parent was the 12th Premier of the Canadian province of Quebec from October 3, 1900 to March 21, 1905, as well as serving as President of the Quebec Bridge and Railway Company.
