Thrissur,formerly Trichur,also known by its historical name Thrissivaperur,is a city and the headquarters of the Thrissur district in Kerala,India. It is the third largest urban agglomeration in Kerala after Kochi and Kozhikode,and the 21st largest in India. The city is built around a 65-acre (26 ha) hillock called Thekkinkadu Maidanam which seats the Vadakkunnathan temple. It is located 304 kilometres (189 mi) north-west of the state's capital city,Thiruvananthapuram. Thrissur was once the capital of the Kingdom of Cochin,and was a point of contact for the Assyrians,Greeks,Persians,Arabs,Romans,Portuguese,Dutch and English.
Thrissur Corporation Stadium is a football stadium owned by Thrissur Municipal Corporation. Situated in Thrissur city,it is also known as Palace Stadium. It is one of the oldest stadiums in Kerala,India and has capacity to hold 15,000 people. After renovation,and it has been lifted to international standards. The stadium has first synthetic football turf in Kerala state and FIFA 2 star certification.

Vilangan Hills is a hillock located in Adat Panchayat,near Thrissur city of Kerala state in India. The hill gives a panoramic view of Thrissur city and Thrissur-Ponnani Kole Wetlands from the top. The hill was referred as an Oxygen Jar of Thrissur city. The name 'Vilangan Kunnu' is a misnomer because 'Vilangan' itself means hill. There is no need of adding 'Kunnu' after 'Vilangan'. It is an ancient Malayalam word derived from proto-Dravidian language. Till the 1970s the word 'Kunnu' was not used by revenue authorities and locals. It is a recent addition. In Tamil too 'Vilangan' means hill.

Thrissur railway station is an NSG–2 category Indian railway station in Thiruvananthapuram railway division of Southern Railway zone. It is a railway station in Kerala,India. Thrissur also is known as the Cultural Capital of Kerala. Thrissur railway station is a major railway head in South India and A1 classified station operated by the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways and comes under the Thiruvananthapuram railway division. It is the busiest railway station in Kerala state in terms of rail traffic with 189 halting trains. Thrissur railway station also connects to the temple town of Guruvayur by Thrissur–Guruvayur section.
