Kalyan Group is a holding company for the brands of Kalyan Silks, Kalyan Jewellers, Kalyan Developers, Kalyan Sarees and Kalyan Collections. [1] It is headquartered in Thrissur, Kerala, India.

History

The group was started in 1909 by T. S. Kalyanarama Iyer, a priest who turned into an entrepreneur. He started a textile mill in Thrissur city in the 1930s, which was later taken over by Government of Kerala. He came from Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu. Later, he started a textile shop in Thrissur city which flourished in Kalyan Silks, Kalyan Sarees and Kalyan Collections. The group got its name from its founder Kalyanarama Iyer. Later his son T. K. Seetharamaiyer also joined the business. Seetharamaiyer in 1991 partitioned the businesses to five sons. T. S. Kalyanaraman, one of the five sons started the Kalyan Jewellers in 1993. Madath Thekkepaattu Vasudevan Nair, popularly known as M.T., is an Indian author, screenplay writer and film director. He is a prolific and versatile writer in modern Malayalam literature, and is one of the masters of post-Independence Indian literature. At the age of 20, as a chemistry undergraduate, he won the prize for the best short story in Malayalam at World Short Story Competition conducted by The New York Herald Tribune. His first major novel Naalukettu, written at the age of 23, won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 1958. His other novels include Manju (Mist), Kaalam (Time), Asuravithu and Randamoozham. The deep emotional experiences of his early days have gone into the making of MT's novels. Most of his works are oriented towards the basic Malayalam family structure and culture and many of them were path-breaking in the history of Malayalam literature. His three seminal novels on life in the matriarchal family in Kerala are Naalukettu, Asuravithu, and Kaalam. Randamoozham, which retells the story of the Mahabharatha from the point of view of Bhimasena, is widely credited as his masterpiece.

Vallathol Narayana Menon was a Malayalam poet and one of the triumvirate of modern Malayalam poetry, along with Asan and Ulloor. The honorific Mahakavi was applied to him in 1913 after the publication of his MahakavyaChitrayogam. He was a nationalist poet and wrote a series of poems on various aspects of the Indian freedom movement. He founded the Kerala Kalamandalam and is credited with revitalising the traditional Keralite dance form known as Kathakali.

Oru CBI Diary Kurippu is a 1988 Indian Malayalam-language mystery thriller film directed by K. Madhu, written by S. N. The lead character, CBI officer Sethurama Iyer is inspired by a police officer named Radha Vinod Raju, Jammu and Kashmir cadre IPS Officer, who in 2009 was appointed as the first chief of India's National Investigation Agency.
