Castagnoli is best known for his 11-year tenure in WWE from 2011 to 2022, where he performed under the ring names Antonio Cesaro. Later shortened to Cesaro.

The Ted Petty Invitational tournament is an independent wrestling tournament in North America, run and promoted by Independent Wrestling Association Mid-South. Created as the Sweet Science Sixteen in 2000 by Ian Rotten, the tournament was originally supposed to showcase the top technical independent wrestlers. After the death of Ted Petty in September 2002, Rotten changed the name to honor his friend. The tournament was expanded to 24 participants, with a three-way final, in 2003. Over the years, the tournament has attracted numerous famous independent wrestlers from Ken Anderson, A.J. Styles to James Gibson.

He is currently employed by WWE as Director of Live Events, producer, trainer, coach, and on-screen authority figure. He is a former five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, NWA British Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion, and PWG World Champion. He is also a member of the NWA Hall of Fame and a former full-time trainer and coach at the WWE Performance Center.
The Kings of Wrestling was a professional wrestling stable that worked on the independent circuit. It was formed in Chikara as a large stable, but also appeared in numerous promotions mainly as a tag team of Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli. Hero's manager Larry Sweeney and valet Sara Del Rey were also part of the group at differing times. The group also comprised Icarus and Gran Akuma who teamed separately as Team F.I.S.T. as well as Arik Cannon, Mitch Ryder, Max Boyer, Chuck Taylor and Shayne Hawke.

The Blackpool Combat Club (BCC) is a villainous professional wrestling stable performing in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), and AEW's sister promotion, Ring of Honor (ROH). Formed in 2022, its namesake derives from the town of Blackpool, where English wrestling personality William Regal—the group's creator and former manager—began his career. The group was originally a tag team managed by Regal and consisting of Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley. They would later be joined by Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli. Regal quit the group when he left AEW in November 2022.
The 2022 Forbidden Door was the inaugural Forbidden Door professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event and supershow. The event was co-produced by the American promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and the Japan-based New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). It took place on June 26, 2022, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, and was the first AEW/NJPW co-promoted event.
