Rhizostomatidae is a family of cnidarians in the class Scyphozoa. [1]
According to the World Register of Marine Species, 11 extant species are in four extant genera within this family:
Rhizostomae or Rhizostomeae is an order of jellyfish. Species of this order have neither tentacles nor other structures at the bell's edges. Instead, they have eight highly branched oral arms, along which there are suctorial minimouth orifices. These oral arms become fused as they approach the central part of the jellyfish. The mouth of the animal is also subdivided into minute pores that are linked to coelenteron.
Rhopilema is a genus of jellyfish.
Stomolophus is a genus of true jellyfish from the West Atlantic and Pacific. It is the only genus in the monotypic family Stomolophidae. Formerly, Nomura's jellyfish was also included in this genus, but has now been reclassified to the family Rhizostomatidae.
Carcharias is a genus of sand tiger sharks belonging to the family Odontaspididae. Once bearing many prehistoric species, all have gone extinct with the exception of the critically endangered sand tiger shark.
The Vermetidae, the worm snails or worm shells, are a taxonomic family of small to medium-sized sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the clade Littorinimorpha. The shells of species in the family Vermetidae are extremely irregular, and do not resemble the average snail shell, hence the common name "worm shells" or "worm snails".
Enidae is a family of air-breathing land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks.
Pyramidella is a genus of minute to medium-sized sea snails, marine gastropod mollusk in the subfamily Pyramidellinae of the family Pyramidellidae, the pyrams and their allies.
Solmundella is a genus of hydrozoan in the family Solmundaeginidae. It is monotypic, with the single species Solmundella bitentaculata.
Lucernariidae is a family of stalked jellyfish containing two genera.
Scleraxonia is a suborder of corals, a member of the phylum Cnidaria.
Urticina is a genus of relatively large and often colorful sea anemones in the family Actiniidae from the North Pacific, North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans.
Prayidae is a family of marine invertebrates in the order Siphonophorae. They are colonial, and the colonies can superficially resemble jellyfish; although they appear to be a single organism, each specimen is actually a colony of Siphonophora.
Limnomedusae is an order of hydrozoans.
Tamoya is a genus of box jellyfish within the monotypic family Tamoyidae.
Haliclystidae is a family of stalked jellyfish in the order Stauromedusae.
Synallactida is a rankless clade of sea cucumbers, but is referred to as an order. Taxa within Synallactida were previously classified in an order called Aspidochirotida, which was determined to be polyphyletic in 2017.
Aeginura is a genus of hydrozoans in the family Aeginidae.
Ulmaris is a genus of jellyfish in the family Ulmaridae.
Lychnorhiza is a genus of jellyfish in the family Lychnorhizidae.
Lychnorhizidae is a family of true jellyfish.
