Robert Joseph Auth (born July 4,1956) is an American politician from New Jersey who represents the 39th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly since taking office on January 14,2014. [1]
Auth earned his B.A. from New York University,where he studied History and Philosophy. [1]
Replacing Bob Schroeder who did not run for re-election,Auth ran successfully in the 2013 general election. [2] He was a delegate to the Republican National Committee in 2016. In the Assembly,he currently serves on the Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee,Commerce and Economic Development Committee,and the Judiciary Committee
Auth is the Chief Executive Officer at Plaza Travel and Insurance Services Ltd.,a company he founded in 1985. He previously served as an aide to Gerald Cardinale,advising on insurance and economic matters,and was a teacher for the North Bergen School District from 2004 to 2006. [1] [3] Auth also worked as an agency manager at the North Bergen Motor Vehicle Commission office. [1] [4]
Auth endorsed Donald Trump for President of the United States in 2016,the first legislator from New Jersey to do so. Auth was also invited to attend Trump's inauguration. [5]

Auth has been a pilot since 1982. He and his wife Elsa have one grown son. [3] Auth is a resident of Old Tappan,where he is the Republican Party municipal chairman.
Old Tappan is a borough in northern Bergen County,in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census,the borough's population was 5,888,an increase of 138 (+2.4%) from the 2010 census count of 5,750,which in turn reflected an increase of 268 (+4.9%) from the 5,482 counted in the 2000 census.
Gerald Cardinale was an American Republican Party politician,who served in the New Jersey State Senate from 1982 until his death in 2021,representing the 39th Legislative District. He also served one term in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1980 until 1982. At the time of his death,he was the second-most senior senator in the state,behind Richard Codey,who also came to office in January 1982,but had served in the General Assembly since 1974. Cardinale was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1984,1988 and 1992 and served as a Delegate to the New Jersey Republican State Platform Committee in 1983.
Paul DiGaetano is the current Bergen County Republican Organization Chairman. DiGaetano also served in the New Jersey General Assembly representing the 36th Legislative District from 1986 –1987 and again from 1992 –2006. DiGaetano also served as a member of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Commission,the Legislative Service Commission and the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology. DiGaetano originally represented Passaic,New Jersey,but moved to Nutley,New Jersey following his 1999 re-election. He served with John Kelly of Nutley for many years in the Assembly,but for his last two terms in office he served as part of a split ticket;Wood-Ridge,New Jersey mayor Paul Sarlo was elected to Kelly's seat in 2001 and after Sarlo moved to the State Senate Frederick Scalera of Nutley was elected in 2003 to replace him.
John E. Rooney is an American Republican Party politician,who served in the New Jersey General Assembly,where he represented the 39th Legislative District. He served in the Assembly from 1983 to 2010,which made him the longest-serving representative in the General Assembly. He retired from the Assembly after his term expired in January 2010 and endorsed Republican Washington Township Councilman Bob Schroeder in the 2009 election who won his seat. Rooney served as a council member in Northvale from 1976 to 1979. In 1979 he was elected Mayor of Northvale and served until 1988. He held dual office as Mayor of Northvale and state assemblyman during this period. After the residents of Northvale asked him to run again in 1992 he won that election and served again as Mayor of Northvale and state assemblyman. Altogether John Rooney served the residents of Northvale and Legislative District 39 from 1976 until 2012.

John Markert was an American Republican Party politician who served as Mayor of Washington Township,Bergen County,New Jersey before being elected to the New Jersey General Assembly,where he served four terms representing the 39th Legislative District.
Holly T. Schepisi is an American lawyer,businesswoman,and Republican Party politician who is the New Jersey State Senator,representing the 39th legislative district. She previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly,from January 10,2012,until March 24,2021. She has served as Deputy Minority Leader since January 14,2020,and served as Assistant Minority Leader for two years before then. She resides in River Vale with her husband Paul Garfinkel and their two children. In March 2015,she suffered a brain aneurysm but fully recovered after surgery in the summer of 2015. On March 9,2021,she was chosen to succeed long-serving Senator Gerald Cardinale in the State Senate,who died in office. She was sworn in on March 25,2021.
