Ruel Marlon Ricardo Brathwaite (born 6 September 1985) is a Barbadian cricketer. Brathwaite is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm fast-medium. He was born in Bridgetown.
Brathwaite was educated at Queen's College in Barbados,before leaving for England when he was 17 to attend Dulwich College. [1] While studying at Dulwich,Brathwaite was spotted by former England Test cricketer Bill Athey. After completing his studies,he moved on to Loughborough University to obtain a degree in civil engineering. [1] Loughborough University was part of the Marylebone Cricket Club's young cricketers program,as such it was designated as a Centre of Cricketing Excellence with first-class status. Under the coaching of Graham Dilley,Brathwaite was selected to play for Loughborough UCCE,making his first-class debut against Essex in 2006. In that same season he was selected to play for the British Universities against the touring Sri Lankans. [2] The following season saw him selected play two first-class matches for the Marylebone Cricket Club,against the touring West Indians and later against Sri Lanka A. [2] During the West Indies 2007 tour of England,Braithwaite was called up to represent the West Indians in a List A match against the England Lions, [3] [4] claiming the wicket of Owais Shah for the cost of 19 runs from three overs. [5] 2008 saw Brathwaite play his final first-class match for Loughborough UCCE against Surrey. [2] In total,he played five first-class matches for Loughborough,scoring 129 runs at an average of 32.25,with a high score of 76 not out. [6] With the ball,he took 7 wickets at an expensive bowling average of 67.85,with best figures of 3/77. [7]
Advancing from Loughborough University,he was accepted by Cambridge University to study for his Master of Philosophy in Engineering for Sustainable Development. [1] Cambridge University is also designated as a Centre of Cricketing Excellence,while studying there he made four first-class appearances:three for Cambridge UCCE,and one for Cambridge University Cricket Club against Oxford University Cricket Club in the 2009 University Match at Lord's. [2] [8] In the University Match,Brathwaite claimed his maiden five wicket haul by taking figures of 5/54,helping Cambridge University to an eventual 10 wicket victory. [9]
Following his studies at Cambridge University,Brathwaite was at The Oval bowling in the nets to the England players. His bowling impressed Durham cricketer Paul Collingwood enough for him to contact the Durham Second XI coach Jonathan Lewis, [10] who proceeded to invite Brathwaite to play for Durham for the remaining few weeks of the 2010 season, [8] during which he made a single first-class appearance against Somerset in the County Championship,taking 4 wickets in the match. [11] Following to 2010 season,Brathwaite signed a two-year deal with Durham. [8] [12] Returning to the West Indies following the 2010 English season,he proceeded to make his Twenty20 debut for the Combined Campuses and Colleges against Guyana in the 2010 Caribbean Twenty20. [13] In this match,he claimed the wicket of Christopher Barnwell for the cost of 33 runs from 3 overs,while with the bat he was dismissed for a duck by Lennox Cush. [14]
Returning to Durham for the 2011 season,Brathwaite made his first List A appearance for the county against Scotland in the Clydesdale Bank 40, [4] as well as playing six first-class matches. [2] He has so far[ when? ] taken 26 first-class wickets in 2011,coming at an average of 27.38,with two five-wicket hauls and best figures of 5/56. [7] He has stated his desire not to qualify to potentially play for England,but to return to the West Indies to get into the Barbados team and to play for the West Indies. [1] In 2012,he made just a single appearance for Durham in a first-class match against the touring Australia A team. [2]
Tino la Bertram Best is a former West Indian cricketer. Since 2002,he has played domestic cricket for his native Barbados,with a season at English club Yorkshire in 2010. Best made his Test debut in May 2003 and played his first One Day International a year later. A back strain incurred in May 2004 prevented Best from playing cricket until March the following year. In 2008 Best signed to play in the Indian Cricket League because he had not played international cricket since 2006. He returned to the side when the West Indies fielded a side weakened by contract disputes between leading players and the West Indies Cricket Board but was dropped shortly after.
Fidel Henderson Edwards is a Barbadian cricketer,who played all formats of the game. A pace bowler,his round-arm action is "not unlike" that of former fast bowler Jeff Thomson but similar to the bowling action of Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka. He was spotted in the nets by Brian Lara and was called up for his Test debut against Sri Lanka after just one match for Barbados. Edwards was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2012 T20 World Cup.

Sir Wesley Winfield Hall is a Barbadian former cricketer and politician. A tall,strong and powerfully built man,Hall was a genuine fast bowler and despite his very long run up,he was renowned for his ability to bowl long spells. Hall played 48 Test matches for the West Indies from 1958 to 1969. Hall's opening bowling partnership with fellow Barbadian Charlie Griffith was a feature of the strong West Indies teams throughout the 1960s. Hall was one of the most popular cricketers of his day and was especially popular in Australia,where he played two seasons in the Sheffield Shield with Queensland.
Graham Roy Dilley was an English international cricketer,whose main role was as a fast bowler. He played first-class cricket for Kent County Cricket Club and Worcestershire County Cricket Clubs,and appeared in 41 Test matches and 36 One Day International (ODIs) for the England cricket team.
Daren Julius Garvey Sammy is a Saint Lucian cricketer who played international cricket for the West Indies. He is currently serving as the head coach of the West Indies cricket team in limited overs cricket. On making his One-Day International (ODI) debut against Bangladesh in 2004,Sammy became the first person from the island of St Lucia to play international cricket. Three years later he made his Test debut against England,taking 7/66 which were the best bowling figures for a West Indian in his first Test since Alf Valentine in 1950. Under his captaincy West Indies win the 2012 and 2016 ICC WorldTwenty20. He is the only captain to win the T20 World Cup twice. He was also a member of the West Indies team that won the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy.
David Andrew Griffiths is an English former cricketer who played at first-class level for Hampshire and Kent County Cricket Clubs in a professional playing career which spanned from 2006 to 2016. Playing as a right-arm fast bowler,he took over 100 wickets in first-class cricket.
James Cullum Tredwell is an English former international cricketer. A left-handed batsman and a right-arm off break bowler,he played his domestic cricket for Kent County Cricket Club and was appointed as County Captain for the 2013 season. He made his debut for Kent in the 2001 season,nine days before his first appearance for England Under-19s. He often fielded at slip. Tredwell was a member of the England team that won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.
George Nathaniel Francis was a West Indian cricketer who played in West Indies' first Test in their inaugural Test tour of England. He was a fast bowler of renowned pace and was notably successful on West Indies' non-Test playing tour of England in 1923,but he was probably past his peak by the time the West Indies were elevated to Test status. He was born in Trents,St. James,Barbados and died at Black Rock,Saint Michael,also in Barbados.

On 6 November 2011,he became only the second West Indian to score two Test fifties before his 19th birthday when he made 63 (212) against India in Delhi. He has also effectively stood as stand-in-captain in place of Jason Holder in seven test matches before becoming the permanent captain of the test team taking over from Holder. He idolises Shivnarine Chanderpaul and his batting style.

Carlos Ricardo Brathwaite is a cricketer from Barbados and a former captain of the West Indies Twenty20 International (T20I) team. He was a key member of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup,and his most notable innings was when he helped the team to win the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 Final with an innings of 34 not-out off 10 balls. Brathwaite hit the winning six to help the West Indies clinch their second T20 world title.
Sarah Glenn is an English cricketer who plays for the England women's cricket team as a leg break bowler. She also plays for Derbyshire,The Blaze,London Spirit and Brisbane Heat. After making her England debut in 2019,she played in the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup and broke into the top 10 of the ICC T20I Bowling Rankings later that year.
