SM City Grand Central is a shopping mall owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings, the largest mall operator in the Philippines. It is located along Rizal Avenue Extension, Caloocan, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is built on the former site of the Ever Gotesco Grand Central that caught fire in 2012, and is the mall's third acquisition from Ever Gotesco Malls, having previously acquired Ever Gotesco Ortigas (and reopened as SM City East Ortigas) and its standalone mall near the Monumento roundabout, establishing SM Hypermarket Monumento.

It has a floor area of 102,790 m2 (1,106,400 sq ft) with six floors. It opened to the public on November 26, 2021. [1] It is the 2nd SM Supermall in Caloocan and the 78th overall. It has parking space for 700 cars.

History

SM City Grand Central is formerly known as Ever Gotesco Grand Central from August 1988 until the building caught fire for 20 hours on March 17, 2012. [2] Afterwards, it was abandoned and demolition of the building was made from 2012 to 2013. In 2015, SM owned the rights to renovate the mall and was soon called SM City Grand Central. The newly built mall was opened to the public on November 26, 2021. [1]

Features

Just like other SM Malls, the mall features SM Store and SM Supermarket. It also features Ace Hardware, Our Home, Watsons, Surplus, Sports Central, Pet Express, Miniso and others. It has four state-of-the-art cinemas and two director's clubs, as well as Cyberzone.

It also features Skylight Park indoor garden and Chapel of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, a Roman Catholic chapel. The mall has parking space for 700 cars. [3] Just like its predecessor, the mall is also directly linked to Monumento LRT station.

Tutuban Center is a shopping complex and public transit hub in Manila, the Philippines that opened in 1993. It encompasses five retail buildings and a parking building in and around Manila's central train station located in the shopping precinct of Divisoria in Tondo district. The 20-hectare (49-acre) mixed-use development includes the original two-story brick and iron main terminal building of the Ferrocaril de Manila-Dagupan built in 1887, a declared national historical building by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines since 1934. It also includes the Bonifacio Plaza fronting the old terminal building on Recto Avenue where a statue of Andrés Bonifacio was erected in 1971. The complex will house the interchange station between the proposed North–South Commuter Railway and an extension of the Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 2 according to the masterplan submitted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency in 2015. Its redevelopment plan also entails the construction of several mixed-use buildings, including office towers, residential buildings, hotels, a convention center, and a 300-metre (980 ft)-high observation tower to be known as the Tower of Maynila.
