SM City Fairview is a large shopping mall in the Philippines owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings. It is located along Quirino Highway and Regalado Highway, Quezon City, Metro Manila. It is the third SM Supermall in Quezon City, after SM North EDSA and SM City Sta. Mesa. It has a land area of 202,000 square meters (50 acres; 20.2 ha), a total gross floor area of 312,749 square meters (3,366,400 sq ft), making it the fifth largest SM Supermall within the country after SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM Seaside City, and SM Mall of Asia as well as the sixth largest shopping mall in the Philippines, in terms of total floor area. Although it is named after the nearby Fairview area or barangay, it is located in Barangay Greater Lagro.^[1]

History

SM City Fairview is a part of the SM mall triplets designed by Palafox and Associates, a concept that was employed by SM at the height of the 1997 Asian financial crisis, of building three shopping malls in different areas under one design template. Thus, the mall's exterior facade and interior has similarities to SM City Bacoor and SM City Iloilo. The mall opened on October 25, 1997, and underwent expansions in three annexes in 2004, 2009, and 2019. The mall initially consists of a rectangular-shaped building and an outdoor parking. Subsequent annex constructions and renovations were designed by Point Design and JRP Design Inc.

Mall complex

SM City Fairview is a four-building, four-level complex with a gross floor area of 312,749 m² (3,366,400 sq ft) located on a 20.2 ha (50 acres) site in Quezon City, Metro Manila. The mall has 4 major tenant zones: SM Foodcourt on the ground level of the main building, Cyberzone at the third Level of the main building and the Health and Wellness Zones.

Main building

The main building measured 144,807 m² (1,558,690 sq ft). It features mall tenants such as The SM Store and SM Supermarket, 8 cinemas, a 14-lane bowling center, billiard center, archery center, food court, Cyberzone, amusement areas, and international stores such as H&M, Uniqlo, Forever 21, etc.^[2] The second Health and Wellness Zone is located at the second level of the main building and was launched on July 16, 2010, after the opening of the Cyberzone. The mall formerly had an amusement center (SM Storyland) located on the third floor before it was close down in April 2014 and was renovated for the expansion of Cyberzone.

SM Cinema renovation

The main building formerly had 12 cinemas, renovated in 2010 and half of the cinema area was closed in 2018 and reopened on November 22, 2019. The former Cinemas 7 to 12 is now home to a Large Format Theater (Megascreen, under new Cinema 1), 5 digital cinemas (under new Cinemas 2 to 6), and 2 Director's Club cinemas with Dolby Atmos sound system (under new Cinemas 7 and 8).^[3]^[4] 4 out of 6 cinemas (former Cinemas 2 to 5) in the other wing were closed for the continuation of the renovations, with the other two remain in temporary operations (Cinemas 9 and 10, which was former Cinemas 1 and 6) and they were closed on January 8, 2020, after the celebration of the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival. The former cinema wing will be renovated and planned as a retail space for MRT-7 connection. SM Bowling will be one of the new tenants in this wing, relocating from the lower ground floor.

Annex 1

The Annex 1 of the mall is a two-story building that opened on May 24, 2004. This 27,540 m² (296,400 sq ft) building has two levels of retail shops and restaurants.

It also features a 9,000 m² (97,000 sq ft) SM Hypermarket located on the lower ground level, the Palm Strip, and more shops and services. The Event Center and Ace Builders Center were once located in Annex 1 before they were relocated to Annex 2.^[5]

Annex 2

Annex 2 of the mall opened on January 15, 2009. The current Annex 2 Mall measured 31,141 m² (335,200 sq ft). It is a three-story building with a large, semicircle atrium that hosted events, mall concerts, and product launches. Ace Builders Center and the first Health and Wellness Zone are located on the lower ground level of the Annex 2.^[5]

Parkway (Annex 3)

Annex 3 or the Parkway measured a total gross floor area of 109,261 m² (1,176,080 sq ft). The Parkway (Annex 3) has a long hallway to connect three buildings at the back. The new expansion building has a house of few hundreds of tenants, a 2-floor parking building, five BPO towers and a rooftop garden. The SM Supermarket and SM Hypermarket has built their new entrance and exit to access The Parkway. It has been relaunched the same day when The Parkway opened.

The Fairview campus of the National University is located in one of the Fairview Towers, the mall's BPO towers.^[6] The first BPO Tower (Belfast Side) has been occupied by a private company and is operating since 2019. The remaining three towers were completed in 2021, 2022, and 2023 respectively. The Parkway officially opened its doors on April 27, 2019, with many activities and guests.

Incidents

December 24, 2019: A minor fire broke out at a Mang Inasal branch in the main building of the mall. The fire started at the kitchen of the said famous fastfood chain branch. After the fire, the mall temporarily closed and eventually opened later that afternoon. Some stalls were closed but some major tenants of the mall reopened again. The mall officials made an investigation regarding to the incident. The ill-fated branch has been closed for business.^[7]
September 14, 2022: A man was about to commit suicide by jumping off the 3rd floor, but fortunately survived after landing in a bunch of mattresses at the Lower Ground Floor.

SM Mall of Asia, is a large shopping mall in the Philippines, located at Bay City, Pasay, Philippines, within the SM Central Business Park, a reclaimed area within Manila Bay, and the southern end of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA/C-4).

SM North EDSA is a large shopping mall located in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is the first SM Supermall in the country and formerly the largest shopping mall in the Philippines from 2008 to 2011, circa 2014, and from 2015 to 2021.

Ayala Malls Trinoma is a large shopping mall in Quezon City, Philippines, owned by property development firm Ayala Land. Opened on May 16, 2007, the mall is located on the east side of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue in Quezon City, giving significant market competition to the nearby SM North EDSA as one of the largest malls in Metro Manila. SM Southmall, is a large shopping mall in the Philippines, owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings. The mall is located along the busy Alabang-Zapote Road in Las Piñas. The mall has 200,000 m² (2,200,000 sq ft) of land area, a total floor area of 205,120 m² (2,207,900 sq ft) and a gross built-up area of 189,676 m² (2,041,660 sq ft). SM City Cebu, is a large shopping mall located in Mabolo, Cebu City, Philippines. SM City Davao, is an indoor shopping mall in Quimpo Boulevard, Matina, Davao City, Philippines. SM Prime Holdings developed and manages the mall. It is the first SM Mall in the Mindanao region, opening to the public on November 17, 2001.

Robinsons Galleria is a mixed-use complex and shopping mall located at EDSA (C-4) corner Ortigas Avenue in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is the flagship mall of Robinsons Malls and is the first to bear the Galleria branding. It was opened on January 12, 1990, with a total gross floor area of approximately 216,000 square meters (2,330,000 sq ft).

SM City Iloilo is a large shopping mall in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, Philippines, owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings. It is the 8th SM Supermall built by the company. This first major mall of San Mateo opens on May 15, 2015, being the fourth SM Supermall in Rizal Province after SM City Taytay, SM City Masinag and SM Center Angono, and the 52nd SM Supermall in the country. The mall is designed by JRP Design Inc., a local architectural design firm in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa and DSGN associates, a firm based in Dallas, Texas, United States, which also designed SM City Marikina.

Robinsons Novaliches, is a shopping mall in Fairview owned and operated by Robinsons Malls, the second largest mall operator in the Philippines. This mall was opened on October 12, 2001. It is the second mall by Robinsons Malls in Quezon City after Robinsons Galleria. It has a total floor area of 62,893 m² (676,970 sq ft).

SM City Cabanatuan is a shopping mall owned by SM Prime Holdings with a gross floor area of 154,020 m² (1,657,900 sq ft). It is the second SM Supermall in Cabanatuan City and Nueva Ecija after the acquisition of Megacenter by SM Supermalls. It is located along Brgy. Hermogenes Concepcion, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines.

SM City Santa Rosa is a large shopping mall owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings. It is located along Old National Highway, Barangay Tagapo, Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines. Opened in 2006, it is the first SM Supermall in the province of Laguna.

SM CDO Downtown is a shopping mall located along Claro M. Recto Avenue corner Osmeña Street, Cagayan de Oro, in the city's central business district. It is owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings, the largest mall operator in the Philippines, and opened on May 12, 2017. The mall is the 2nd in Northern Mindanao and 61st mall in the Philippines by the SM Group. It was the 3rd SM Supermall to be called "Premier" after SM Lanang in 2012 and SM Aura in 2013 respectively. It has a leasable area of 81,133 m² and a gross floor area of 177,743 m², making it the largest SM Supermall in Mindanao.

The Araneta City Cyberpark is a 8-hectare (20-acre) office development located in the Araneta City in Cubao, Quezon City. Located along the southern part of the mixed-use commercial development, the office complex is currently undergoing a ₱20 billion redevelopment under a new master plan, consisting of five green office towers, retail spaces, and an outdoor park. The ongoing development currently includes 2 towers completed, and one tower topped off, with 191,000 m² (2,055,906.89 sq ft) of office space completed as of January 2021.
