SM Seaside City (also known locally as SM Seaside and formerly but still officially known on exterior signage as SM Seaside City Cebu), is a large shopping mall owned and developed by SM Prime Holdings in South Road Properties, Cebu City, Philippines. The mall opened on November 27, 2015, exactly 22 years after SM City Cebu, another mall also owned by SM Prime in Cebu City, opened in 1993.
As of 2022 [update] , it is the largest mall in Cebu, the fourth largest shopping mall in the Philippines and the sixteenth in the world, with a gross floor area (GFA) of approximately 470,486 square meters. [1] SM Seaside is SM Prime Holdings' third mall in Metro Cebu and its 56th mall in the Philippines. The mall is designed by Arquitectonica, the same company which designed other SM Supermalls, such as SM North EDSA, SM Mall of Asia, and SM Megamall.
Plans for a second SM Supermall in Cebu were already in place as early as 2007, [2] with the Cebu City government-owned South Road Properties seen as a potential location. In 2009, SM Prime Holdings formally submitted an offer to acquire 28 hectares of land in the South Road Properties, with plans to develop a mall and other mixed-use developments for ₱20 billion over 15 years, [3] with the purchase formally approved by the Cebu City government in 2010. [4]
On April 12, 2011, SM Prime held a ground-breaking ceremony at the mall's location, located at the corner of F. Vestil Street and the Cebu South Coastal Road. [5]
Months before the mall's opening, SM Prime Holdings President Hans Sy stated adjustments for the project, in terms of budget allocation to ₱8.5 billion, from the original budget of ₱6 billion, and the whole SM Seaside Complex now estimating to cost ₱30 billion. [6] It is SM's largest and most expensive mall ever built in a single construction phase until the completion of SM City Tianjin in China.
On November 27, 2015, SM Seaside City opened to great fanfare, and causing major traffic congestion in the South Road Properties area, particularly along the Cebu South Coastal Road. On that evening, a fireworks display was held to celebrate the opening of the mall, which would be the largest in Cebu. [7]
SM Seaside City is a circular-shaped retail mall with multiple anchors, including a two-story SM Store (formerly The SM Store), SM Supermarket, a Centerstage theater, a Super Screen Cinema (formerly Large Screen format cinema), two Director's Club cinemas, and 4 regular cinemas, an 18-lane SM Bowling and Amusement Center, and an Olympic-size ice skating rink near the food court. The Super Screen Cinema features a screen almost 30% larger than the regular cinema screen size using a Christie 6P laser projection system and a SM Large Screen Cinema using Dolby Atmos Sound System. The cinema contains 351 seats. [9] The technology in this cinema is similar to Dolby Cinema, which also uses Christie projectors.
The proposed SMX Convention Center Cebu will stand on the property of South Coast City, an adjacent mixed-use development co-owned by SM Prime with Ayala Land, [10] [11] which it will open on DD | MM | 2025.
This 147-meter tall tower is located on the center of the mall. [12] There are plans for restaurants, coffee shops and a viewing deck at the top of the tower which will provide people with a 360-degree view of Cebu City and the mall. The tower is still currently unoccupied. The tower is supported by columns of 150 cm x 150 cm dimensions of 21 MPA concrete ultimate compression strength from the foundation up to the third level. The SM Seaside City Arena is a proposed 16,000-seating capacity indoor arena intended to be built across the shopping mall complex. It is planned to house international concerts and events, and, upon completion, will be the biggest indoor arena in Cebu. [14]
It is planned to become a venue for the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) and the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and was one of the planned venues for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, had the Philippines won its bid to host the tournament. [15]
In January 2017, SM Prime Holdings reportedly canceled its plans to build the arena. [16] [17] However, plans for the arena resumed in late 2019, with the arena, instead of being within the SM Seaside complex, now placed in the South Coast City, setting to open on MM | DD | 2025.
SM Supermalls, or simply SM, is a chain of shopping malls owned by the Philippines-based SM Prime. As of October 2024, it has a total of 95 malls. It also has 13 malls under construction. It was formerly known as Shoemart.

SM Southmall, is a large shopping mall in the Philippines, owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings. The mall is located along the busy Alabang-Zapote Road in Las Piñas. The mall has 200,000 m2 (2,200,000 sq ft) of land area, a total floor area of 205,120 m2 (2,207,900 sq ft) and a gross built-up area of 189,676 m2 (2,041,660 sq ft). It is currently the 7th largest SM Supermall in the Philippines after SM Mall of Asia, SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM Seaside City, SM City Fairview and SM City Cebu.
SM City Bacolod is a supermall in Bacolod, Negros Occidental, Philippines. It is the 29th supermall of SM Prime Holdings, the first SM supermall in Negros, and the 3rd in the Visayas. It opened on March 1, 2007 and currently has a total land area of 161,096.60 square meters (1,734,029.4 sq ft) and a total floor area of 133,894 square meters (1,441,220 sq ft).
SM City Cebu, is a large shopping mall located in Mabolo, Cebu City, Philippines. It is the 4th shopping mall owned and developed by SM Prime Holdings, the country's largest shopping mall owner and developer. It is the company's first shopping mall outside Metro Manila and the fifth largest shopping mall in the Philippines. It has a land area of 11.8 hectares and a gross floor area of 495,000 m2 (5,330,000 sq ft)
SM City Dasmariñas is a large shopping mall owned by SM Prime Holdings. It is the second SM Supermall to be opened in Cavite, Philippines. It is located along kilometer 35, Governor's Drive, Sampaloc 1, Dasmariñas, Cavite. It has a land area of 12.7 hectares and a total gross floor area of 201,645 m2 (2,170,490 sq ft), making it the largest shopping mall in the province surpassing its sister mall, SM City Bacoor and currently holds the title as the 7th largest SM Supermall built by the company.
SM City San Pablo is the 38th shopping mall owned by SM Prime Holdings. It is the 2nd SM Supermall in the province of Laguna. It is located at the entrance of Riverina Residential and Commercial Estates in Maharlika Highway, Barangay San Rafael, San Pablo, Laguna and has a gross floor area of 59,776 square meters (643,420 sq ft).
SM Lanang, is an indoor four-story shopping mall in Lanang, Davao City, Philippines along Jose P. Laurel Avenue and within S.P Dakudao loop. It was the first SM Supermall to be called "Premier". The mall is owned by Henry Sy, Sr. and managed by SM Prime Holdings. Construction of the mall started in 2011 and opened to the public on September 28, 2012, on the site of the former Lanang Golf and Country Club.
SM Estates, are integrated mixed-used developments of SM Prime Holdings. The Estates combine elements of SM Prime's core segments such shopping malls, residential development, commercial development, hotels and conventions, and leisure areas and resorts. SM Prime plans to develop more "estates" similar to the 60-hectare Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay which will optimize land where premiere malls currently stand. SM City Santa Rosa is a large shopping mall owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings. It is located along Old National Highway, Barangay Tagapo, Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines. Opened in 2006, it is the first SM Supermall in the province of Laguna.
The South Road Properties (SRP), also known as the South Reclamation Project, is a 300 ha reclamation area in Cebu City, Philippines. The area, which is reclaimed from Mactan Channel, is located off the coast of the southern district of Cebu City, near Barangays Mambaling, Inayawan, and Pasil. It spans from the shore of mainland Cebu to Kawit Point. An island-type reclaimed area, it is connected with mainland Cebu by the Cebu South Coastal Road and the Mambaling Access Road. Through the Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway, the SRP is also connected by land to Cordova and the island of Mactan.
SM CDO Downtown is a shopping mall located along Claro M. Recto Avenue corner Osmeña Street, Cagayan de Oro, in the city's central business district. It is owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings, the largest mall operator in the Philippines, and opened on May 12, 2017. The mall is the 2nd in Northern Mindanao and 61st mall in the Philippines by the SM Group. It was the 3rd SM Supermall to be called "Premier" after SM Lanang in 2012 and SM Aura in 2013 respectively. It has a leasable area of 81,133 m2 and a gross floor area of 177,743 m2, making it the largest SM Supermall in Mindanao.
SM City Legazpi is a shopping mall owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings, the largest retail and mall operator in the Philippines. It is located along Imelda C. Roces Avenue corner Terminal Road, Barangay Bitano, Legazpi City, Albay. Opened on September 14, 2018, it is the first SM Supermall in Albay and the second in the Bicol Region following SM City Naga. It is also the 71st SM Supermall in the Philippines after SM City Telabastagan in San Fernando, Pampanga. SM City Legazpi is currently the largest mall in the Bicol Region based on gross floor area with 87,706 m2 (944,060 sq ft) of total floor space.
Nustar Resort and Casino is a 9-hectare (22-acre) integrated resort and casino facility on Kawit Point, South Road Properties (SRP), Cebu City, Philippines. The project, which includes restaurants, bars, a mall, convention center, casino, park, theater, and at least three hotels, is a joint venture of the Cebu City Government and Universal Hotels and Resorts, Inc. The project opened partially in 2022.
SM Seaside Arena, also known as SM Cebu Arena or SM Arena, is an upcoming multipurpose indoor arena that as of 2024 is under construction in South Road Properties, Cebu City, Philippines. The arena, located adjacent to the SM Seaside City complex, is estimated to have a 16,000-seating capacity and, once completed, will be the largest indoor arena in Cebu.
South Coast City is a 26 hectares mixed-use, master-planned, under-construction development located at the South Road Properties, Cebu City, Philippines. The development is built under the consortium between SM Prime Holdings and Ayala Land, and will cost ₱300 billion upon its construction. The 26-hectare development will involve an arena, convention center, a district square, a 1-hectare park, and other mixed-use facilities.
SM J Mall is a shopping mall in Mandaue, Philippines. Opened in 2011 and operated until 2023 as J Centre Mall, the mall was since acquired by SM Prime Holdings and was temporarily closed for upgrades and renovations, and reopened as SM J Mall on October 25, 2024. It is the first SM Supermall in Mandaue, the 4th SM Supermall in Cebu, and the 87th SM Supermall in the Philippines.
