Sabine Richter (born 18 July 1966) is a German former track and field sprinter who competed mainly over 100 metres. She represented her country at the 1988 Summer Olympics and the 1991 World Championships in Athletics, winning a relay bronze medal at the latter.
Born in Frankfurt, Richter began training with Eintracht Frankfurt sports club. [1] After a third-place finish in the 100 m at the 1988 West German Athletics Championships, [2] she was chosen to represent West Germany at the 1988 Summer Olympics. There she reached the quarter-finals of the individual 100 m and placed fourth overall in the 4×100 metres relay alongside Ulrike Sarvari, Andrea Thomas and Ute Thimm. [1]
Richter won her first and only national title at the start of 1989, taking the 60 m crown at the West German Indoor Athletics Championships. [3] She gained her selection for the 1989 European Athletics Indoor Championships, where she placed sixth in the 60 m final. Her next appearance was at the 1990 European Athletics Championships, but she failed to get past the 100 m heats. [4] She competed in her hometown for the 1991 European Cup and came away with a silver medal in the relay (the German team coming six hundredths short of the Soviet winners). [5]
Richter placed third in the 100 m behind Katrin Krabbe and Grit Breuer at the German Athletics Championships – the first edition following German reunification. [2] She ran a personal best of 11.39 seconds for the 100 m that year. [1] She was selected for both the individual and relay events at the 1991 World Championships in Athletics. She failed to get past the quarterfinals of the 100 m, but performed well in the relay alongside Breuer, Krabbe and Heike Drechsler with a bronze medal performance of 42.33 seconds. [6]
This proved to be the height of her career and also her last major international appearance for Germany. She later married German hurdler Heiko Buss and worked as an assistant in a biology laboratory. [1]

Jenny Margareta Kallur is a Swedish former track and field athlete who competed in hurdling and sprinting events. Her twin sister Susanna Kallur, who is four minutes younger, is also a 100 m hurdler. She was coached by Torbjörn Eriksson and Anders Henriksson.
Petra Schersing is a retired East German sprinter who specialised in the 400 metres. She represented sports club SC Chemie Halle and was coached by Harold Werner. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, she won a silver medal in the 400 metres and a bronze medal in the 4×400 metres relay.
Brigitte Heike Meissner is a retired German athlete. She competed mainly in the 400 metres hurdles, but also spent two seasons specializing in the 800 metres. Notable achievements include a silver medal at the 2002 European Championships, medals in 4 x 400 metres relay at the 1994 European Championships and the 1997 World Indoor Championships and a fourth place at the 1995 World Championships.
Silke Möller is a German athlete, who in the 1980s competed for East Germany as one of the best female sprinters in the world. She was a member of the East German quartet that broke the world record in the 4 × 100 m relay at the World cup in Canberra on 6 October 1985. She and teammates Sabine Rieger, Marlies Göhr, and Ingrid Auerswald ran a time of 41.37 seconds, which stood as the world record until 2012. She is the 1987 World champion at both 100 metres and 200 metres.
Cornelia Oschkenat, is a German former track and field athlete who represented East Germany. She competed at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. At the 1987 World Championships in Rome, she won a bronze medal in the 100 metres hurdles with a time of 12.46s as well as silver medal as a member of the East German 4 × 100 metres relay team.
Sabine Busch is a retired East German athlete, who specialised in the 400 metres and the 400 metres hurdles. In 1987, she became the World Champion at 400 m hurdles and the World Indoor Champion at 400 m.

Reeta Sisko Hanhijoki, née Markkanen is a retired Finnish sprinter, who specialized in the 60, 100 and 200 metres. She won a bronze medal at the 1989 European Indoor Championships. Domestically, she won 28 national championship titles in the 60, 100 and 200 metres indoor and outdoor between 1985 and 1993.
Gina Lückenkemper is a German track and field athlete who competes in the sprints. She won gold medals in the 100 metres and for the 4 × 100 m relay at the 2022 European Athletics Championships.
Gabriele Becker is a German former track and field sprinter who competed mainly over 100 metres. She represented her country at the 1995 World Championships in Athletics and won a bronze medal in the relay.
Olga Antonova is a Russian former track and field sprinter who competed for the Soviet Union. She represented her country at the World Championships in Athletics in 1983 and 1987, winning a relay medal at the latter edition. She was a bronze medallist over 200 m at the 1984 European Athletics Indoor Championships and was a two-time Soviet indoor champion over 60 metres.
Irina Slyusar is a Ukrainian former track and field sprinter. She represented the Soviet Union at the World Championships in Athletics in 1987 and 1991 – she was a relay bronze medallist on her debut, but was disqualified for doping on her second appearance. She was twice Soviet national champion in the 100 metres.
Leleith Hodges is a Jamaican former track and field sprinter who competed mainly in the 100 metres. She was one of Jamaica's most prominent female runners of the 1970s.
Nicole Duclos is a French former track and field athlete who competed in the 400 metres. She broke the world record for the event in 1969, running 51.77 seconds to become European champion in 1969. She also shared in a world record in the 4×400 metres relay. She represented France at the 1972 Summer Olympics and was a three-time national champion.
Ellen Buchleitner is a German former track and field athlete who was a middle-distance specialist. Representing East Germany, she won a silver medal in the 800 metres at the 1989 European Indoor Championships and a bronze medal in the 800m at the 1989 World Indoor Championships, before going on to win a silver medal in the 1500 metres at the 1990 European Championships. She won three East German national titles.
Ilona Bruzsenyák is a Hungarian former track and field athlete who competed in the women's pentathlon, long jump and 100 metres hurdles. She was the gold medallist in the long jump at the 1974 European Athletics Championships. Bruzsenyák represented her nation at the Summer Olympics in 1972 and 1976, competing in both long jump and pentathlon. She was a ten-time national champion at the Hungarian Athletics Championships.
Eva Glesková is a former Czechoslovak track and field sprinter who specialised in the 100 metres. She represented Czechoslovakia three times at the Summer Olympics and twice at the European Athletics Championships. She equalled the world record for the 100 m in 1972 with a manually-timed run of 11.0 seconds. She was twice a relay medallist at the European Indoor Games and a 13-time national champion in the individual sprints.
Andrea Joan Caron Lynch is a British former track and field sprinter who competed mainly in the 100 metres. A two-time Olympian, the peak of her career was becoming a bronze medallist in the 100 m at the 1974 European Championships and a double silver medallist in the 100 m and 4 × 100 metres relay at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games. A former British record holder in the 100 m, she has a hand-timed best of 10.9 seconds in 1974 and an auto-timed best of 11.16 secs in 1975. Her 200 metres best is 23.15 secs in 1975.
