Howrah is a city in the Indian state of West Bengal. Howrah is located on the western bank of the Hooghly River, opposite its twin city of Kolkata. Administratively Howrah lies within Howrah district and is the headquarters of the Howrah Sadar subdivision; it is also part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). Howrah is an important industrial and transportation hub, and is also a gateway to Kolkata via Howrah railway station and Howrah Bridge.

The Salt Lake Stadium, officially known as Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK), is a multi-purpose stadium, used mostly for football matches, located in Salt Lake City, Greater Kolkata, with a capacity of 68,000 spectators. Named after Swami Vivekananda, the stadium is one of the home grounds of East Bengal FC and Mohun Bagan SG. The stadium hosted the final match of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, alongside other matches of the tournament.
The Kolkata Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Kolkata and the Kolkata Metropolitan Region in West Bengal, India. Opened in 1984, it was the first operational rapid transit system in India. Currently it is the second busiest and fifth longest rapid transit system in India. As of now, it has one fully operational, and three partly operational lines for a total of 59.38 km (36.90 mi). Two other lines are in various phases of construction and planning. The system has a mix of underground, at-grade, and elevated stations using both broad-gauge and standard-gauge tracks. It operates on a 750 V DC Third rail system. Trains operate between 06:50 and 22:40 IST and the fares range from ₹5 to ₹50.
Bidhannagar, also known as Salt Lake City, is a city and a municipal corporation of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of the Bidhannagar subdivision. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) and is located on the north-east side of Kolkata.

Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC) is a Government of India enterprise formed in 2008. The agency was formed to oversee the implementing Kolkata Metro Green Line, also known as East–West Metro, connecting the twin cities Kolkata and Howrah. The metro rail route is partly underground including the part that will be under the river Ganges. The 16.6 km route has six station each in underground and elevated portions. The terminal stations are Salt Lake Sector V and the Howrah Maidan. The elevated stretch started operations on 13 February 2020.
The 2010 Santosh Trophy was the 64th edition of the tournament. All matches of the tournament from the quarter-finals stage were played at the Yuva Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. The tournament began on 16 July 2010 and ended on 8 August 2010 when the final match was played between Bengal and Punjab.
Green Line is a rapid transit metro line of the Kolkata Metro in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It currently consists of two distinctly operational sections from Salt Lake Sector-V to Sealdah, and Esplanade to Howrah Maidan by going underneath the Hooghly River. A future eastern extension from Sector-V to Teghoria is planned. It will cover a distance of 22 km (14 mi) and consist of 17 stations from Teghoria (Haldiram) in the east to Howrah Maidan in the west, of which it will consist of 11 elevated and 6 underground stations, and the operational section consists of 6 elevated and 6 underground stations, with a total distance of 13.1 km (8.1 mi). It is expected to derive a very high ridership, since it will connect India's two largest commuter railway and long-distance railway terminals, Howrah and Sealdah, along with two of its largest business districts, BBD Bagh and Salt Lake Sector V. At present, more than 100,000 passengers commute through the line every day, and this figure is expected to go up to 1 million after it gets fully completed by 2035. It will also connect the industrial hub of Kolkata, i.e., Howrah and the IT hub of Kolkata, i.e., Salt Lake Sector-V. It has interchange with Blue Line at Esplanade and will eventually connect with Purple and Orange Lines.
The West Bengal football team, also known as IFA Bengal football team or earlier the Bengal football team, is an Indian football team representing West Bengal in Indian state football competitions including the Santosh Trophy. They were the second Indian team to participate in the continental top tier tournament – Asian Champion Club Tournament, by playing in the 1970 edition following Mysore in 1969.
The 2013 IFA Shield was the 117th edition of the IFA Shield. The tournament this season was held from 4 March 2013 in West Bengal. This year also, the Indian Football Association announced that two foreign clubs would participate in the tournament, Costa Rican Primera División club Deportivo Saprissa and Bangladesh Premier League club Muktijoddha Sangsad. However on 4 March 2013 it was announced that Muktijoddha Sangsad would not participate in this tournament and instead current I-League club ONGC would take their place.
The 2014 IFA Shield was the 118th edition of the IFA Shield. The tournament was held from 29 January to 11 February 2014 in Kolkata. That year, the Indian Football Association announced that three foreign clubs to participate in the tournament, S.League club Geylang International FC, South Korean Sun Moon University and Bangladesh Premier League club Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.
Orange Line is a rapid transit metro line of the Kolkata Metro in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It will connect New Garia with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport via two major satellite towns of Kolkata metropolitan region, Salt Lake and New Town. It currently operates between Kavi Subhash and Hemanta Mukhopadhyay. This line will be one of the most important stretches of Kolkata Metro because it will connect the southern and the eastern parts of the city with Kolkata Airport. The total distance of this route will be 29.87 km (18.56 mi). It has an interchange with Blue Line at Kavi Subhash and will eventually connect with Green Line near IT Centre and Yellow Line at Jai Hind.
Central Park is an elevated metro station on the East-West corridor of the Green Line of Kolkata Metro, which is an eastern neighbourhood of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The elevated structure is located above the 3rd Avenue between Central Park and Bikash Bhawan. This station serves the Central Park and other government offices situated in Sector I, Salt Lake.
City Center is an elevated metro station on the east-west corridor of the Green Line of Kolkata Metro that serves the City Center shopping mall area in Salt Lake City, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. This metro station is located near Labony Estate, Salt Lake.
Salt Lake Sector-V and IT Centre are the Kolkata Metro stations serving Salt Lake Sector-V. The Salt Lake Sector-V station of Green Line and the IT Centre station of the upcoming Orange Line are located beside each other, and connected by means of an over-bridge forming an elevated interchange between the Green and Orange Lines.
Majerhat metro station is an operational metro station on Purple Line of Kolkata Metro. It is the terminal station of the first phase 1 of this line and the first and only station built over an existing railway network, from Joka to Majerhat. The line was sanctioned in India's railway budget of 2010–11, but due to various hurdles, construction was delayed and missed multiple deadlines. The most notable reason for delays was the Majerhat Bridge collapse in 2018.
The 2020 IFA Shield is the 123rd edition of the IFA Shield. It will have four I-League teams and eight Calcutta Premier Division teams. No overseas teams were invited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Real Kashmir beat George Telegraph in the final to win their first IFA Shield title.
