The San Diego State University (SDSU) Georgia, known as SDSU Georgia, is a representation of San Diego State University (SDSU) in Tbilisi, Georgia offering internationally accredited Bachelor of Science programs in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in the Republic of Georgia. These programs enable Georgian students to receive a high-quality STEM education and earn an American academic degree.

Founded in 2014, SDSU-Georgia is funded through a compact signed between the United States of America's Millennium Challenge Corporation and the Government of Georgia. [2]

Academics

Academic degrees are offered in partnership with three leading Georgian universities and are designed to prepare students to excel in science and technology fields. The classrooms, engineering and science laboratories, and computer workstations are designed to meet the same criteria and provide the same technologies that are used at San Diego State University in the United States.

Courses are taught in the English language by San Diego State University faculty from both the United States and Georgia. [3]

SDSU Georgia diplomas meet the standards of various accreditation agencies, including Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), and the American Chemical Society (ACS). [4]

English Language Academy

To help prepare students for admission, SDSU Georgia English Language Academy (ELA), in collaboration with the Center for International Education (CIE), offers preparatory English language courses in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, and other Georgian cities. The ELA is designed to help prepare potential SDSU-Georgia students who have a solid background in STEM with the appropriate English language skills necessary to successfully meet the San Diego State University TOEFL requirements for admission. Travel

Students are offered an opportunity to travel to San Diego, California, and complete one or more semesters of instruction at the main San Diego State University campus with the same tuition fee. [6]

Halil Guven is a Cypriot-born professor, currently serving as the Dean of San Diego State University - Georgia. He was a Vice Dean of SDSU Georgia for four years before then and was one of the coordinators of the project at the time of its conception. Dr. Güven served as a Rector at three different universities in Turkey and in Cyprus. He served as the rector of Istanbul Bilgi University appointed in the academic year of 2009–2010, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), North Cyprus in 2004–2007, and Bahçeşehir University, Istanbul, Turkey in 1999–2003. He received his B.S. degree from Boğaziçi University, his M.S. degree from Mississippi State University on Fulbright Scholarship (1981), and his Ph.D. degree from University of Houston, in Mechanical Engineering(1983). Alongside his 20+ articles in energy systems in peer-reviewed journals, Güven has edited books and published book chapters on Globalization, Leadership, Clash of civilizations and Education. He speaks Turkish, English, and moderate Spanish and Greek.

Parala Maharaja Engineering College (PMEC), Brahmapur, Odisha is Government engineeringcollege in southern Odisha, India. Established in 2009, the college was inaugurated by Naveen Patnaik, the then chief minister of Odisha. This college is named after the King Krushna Chandra Gajapati honorably known as Maharaja Sir Krushna Chandra Gajapati Narayana Dev KCIE, was a key personality and regarded as the architect of an Independent united Odisha State. The Parala Maharaja engineering College was approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi, Govt. of India and was affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela, Government of Odisha but now, it is an autonomous college from 21st January, 2021 along with GCE, Kalahandi and GCE, Keonjhar. This college is also accredited as "B+" by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) New Delhi, Govt. of India.
