Sandalus is a genus of cicada parasite beetles in the family Rhipiceridae.
Anthia is a genus of the ground beetle family (Carabidae) from Africa and Asia. Species of Anthia can spray a jet of formic acid up to 30 centimetres (12 in), which, if not treated, can cause blindness in animals that harass the beetles.
Lampetis is a genus of beetles in the family Buprestidae, containing the following species:
Acmaeodera is a genus of beetles in the family Buprestidae, a group of metallic wood-boring beetles favored by insect collectors. Whereas most beetles including most buprestids fly with their elytra held out and vibrating their hindwings to give lift and thrust, Acmaedodera, however, fly with their hind wings only — the elytra are fused down the center and form a shield over the insect's abdomen, even during flight. This fact, combined with the banding across the abdomen which is common in this family, gives many of them a distinct wasp-like appearance when in flight. Several are therefore considered hymenopteran mimics.
Licininae is a subfamily of in the beetle family Cicindelidae. There are more than 80 genera and 1,800 described species in Licininae.
Epicauta is a genus of beetles in the blister beetle family, Meloidae. The genus was first scientifically described in 1834 by Pierre François Marie Auguste Dejean. Epicauta is distributed nearly worldwide, with species native to all continents except Australia and Antarctica. Surveys have found the genus to be particularly diverse in northern Arizona in the United States. Few species occur in the Arctic, with none farther north than the southern edge of the Northwest Territories, Canada.
Eucnemidae, or false click beetles, are a family of elateroid beetles based on the type genus Eucnemis; they include about 1700 species, distributed worldwide.
Lebiini is a tribe of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are more than 250 genera and 4,800 described species in Lebiini.
Cremastocheilini is a tribe of scarab beetles in the family Scarabaeidae. There are about 50 genera in the tribe Cremastocheilini.
Dascillidae is a family of beetles within the clade Elateriformia. There are about 100 extant species in 11 genera, which are found worldwide. Dascillidae together with Rhipiceridae form the super family Dascilloidea.
Rhipiceridae is a family of beetles found worldwide. The larva of rhipicerids are parasitoids of cicada nymphs. Rhipiceridae and Dascillidae form the super family Dascilloidea, within the Elateriformia.
Sandalus niger, known generally as the cedar beetle or cicada parasite beetle, is a species of cicada parasite beetle in the family Rhipiceridae. It is found in North America.
Stenochiinae is a subfamily of darkling beetles in the family Tenebrionidae. There are more than 390 genera in Stenochiinae.
Sandalus californicus is a species of cicada parasite beetle in the family Rhipiceridae. It is found in North America.
Sandalus petrophya, the cedar beetle, is a species of cicada parasite beetle in the family Rhipiceridae. It is found in North America.
Elodes is a genus of marsh beetles in the family Scirtidae. There are more than 60 described species in Elodes.
Scirtes is a genus of marsh beetles in the family Scirtidae. There are more than 80 described species in Scirtes.
Sandalus porosus is a species of cicada parasite beetle in the family Rhipiceridae. It is found in North America.
