She served as the 12th Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Women, Family and Community Development in the PH administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from May 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020, 1st President of the People's Justice Party (PKR) from April 1999 to November 2018, the 11th and 13th Leader of the Opposition from March 2008 to August 2008 and again from May 2015 to May 2018, MP for Pandan from May 2018 to November 2022, for Permatang Pauh from November 1999 to March 2008 and again from May 2015 to May 2018 as well as Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kajang from April 2014 to May 2018. She was the first female Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition as well as the highest ever female political officeholder in the history of Malaysia. She joined politics and held a number of political offices on behalf of her husband Anwar to retain his political influence during his absence from politics due to a series of his sodomy trials and prison sentences that had prevented him from holding the offices. She most notably served as the 1st President of PKR from the party formation to officially handing over the party leadership to Anwar after his release from prison while Anwar served as the "de facto" leader during the period.

Mohammad Nizar bin Jamaluddin is a Malaysian politician and engineer who has served as Member of the Perak State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) state administrations under Menteris Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Saarani Mohamad from May 2018 to the collapse of the PH state administration in March 2020 and again since November 2022 as well as Member of the Perak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Sungai Rapat since May 2018. The Alliance of Hope is a Malaysian political coalition consisting of centre-left political parties which was formed in 2015 to succeed the Pakatan Rakyat coalition. It has been part of a "Unity Government" since November 2022 together with other political coalitions and parties as a result of the 2022 Malaysian general election, and previously for 22 months after it had won the 2018 Malaysian general election until February 2020 when it lost power as a result of the 2020 Malaysian political crisis at the federal level. The coalition deposed the Barisan Nasional coalition government during the 2018 election, ending its 60-year-long reign since independence.

Datuk Christina Liew is a Hong Kong-born Malaysian politician who has served as the State Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment of Sabah for the second term in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state administration under Chief Minister Hajiji Noor since January 2023 and the first term in the Heritage Party (WARISAN) state administration under former Chief Minister Shafie Apdal from May 2018 to the collapse of the WARISAN administration in September 2020 as well as Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Api-Api since May 2013. Steven Choong Shiau Yoon is a Malaysian politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tebrau from May 2018 to November 2022. He is a member of the Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) and was a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and formerly Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalitions. He has served as the Deputy President of PBM since February 2023. He served as the Senior Vice President I of PBM from January 2022 to his promotion to the party deputy presidency in February 2023. He also served as the Division Chief of PKR of Tebrau from 2014 to his resignation from the party in February 2021 and the Division Chief of PKR of Ayer Hitam from 2012 to 2013 as well as the Deputy Secretary-General of PKR from 2011 to 2014. The 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis was triggered after several Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 14th Malaysian Parliament changed party support, leading to the loss of a parliamentary majority, the collapse of two successive coalition governments, and the resignation of two Prime Ministers. The political crisis culminated in a 2022 snap general election and eventual formation of a coalition government.

He is a member and State Elections Department Director of Perak of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the PH coalition. He has also served as the State Vice Chairman of PKR of Perak since January 2019 and also served as the State Youth Chief of PKR of Perak.

Haniza binti Mohamed Talha is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Selangor State Executive Council (EXCO) from May 2018 to June 2020 and Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Lembah Jaya from May 2018 to August 2023 and for Taman Medan from March 2008 to May 2018. She is a member of the Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM). She also served as the 2nd Deputy President of PBM from January to her removal from the party deputy presidency in December 2022. She was a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.
