Schenckiella is a genus of fungi in the Asterinaceae family. The relationship of this taxon to other taxa within the class is unknown ( incertae sedis ), and it has not yet been placed with certainty into any order. [2] It is a monotypic genus, containing the single species Schenckiella marcgraviae. [3]

The genus was circumscribed by Paul Christoph Hennings in 1893. [1]

The genus name of Schenckiella is in honour of Johann Heinrich Rudolf Schenck (1860–1927), who was a German botanist and native of Siegen. He was a brother to geographer Adolf Schenck (1857–1936). [4]

Philipp Wilhelm Albrecht Zimmermann was a German botanist. He was a Professor of Botany at several different Universities . He was a botanist and collector of fungi and spermatophytes, who worked in Indonesia and Tanzania from 1902 to 1919. He moved to Indonesia in 1896 and studied applied botany. In 1902 he moved to Africa to join the Amani Research Institute that was established that year. He returned to Germany after World War I in 1920.
