Women appointees

Despite the pressure coming from his supporters and women's rights activists to appoint female ministers, [10] [11] Rouhani did not name any woman as minister, however he appointed three women in his second administration, Masoumeh Ebtekar and Laya Joneydi as vice presidents and Shahindokht Molaverdi as his aide for citizenship rights. [8]

Eshaq Jahangiri Kouhshahi is an Iranian politician who served as the sixth first vice president from 2013 until 2021 in Hassan Rouhani's government. Jahangiri was the minister of industries and mines from 1997 to 2005 under President Mohammad Khatami. Before that, he was the governor of Isfahan Province. He was also a member of Parliament for two terms.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Cabinet of Iran</span> Iranian cabinet

The Cabinet of Iran is a formal body composed of government officials, ministers, chosen and led by the President of Iran. Its composition must be approved by a vote in parliament. According to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a president may dismiss members of the cabinet, but must do so in writing, and new appointees must again be approved by parliament. The cabinet meets weekly on Saturdays in Tehran. There may be additional meetings as circumstances require. The president chairs them. The Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei has the power to dismiss cabinet members like ministers, vice presidents and presidents at any time, regardless of parliamentary decisions.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hassan Rouhani</span> President of Iran from 2013 to 2021

Hassan Rouhani is an Iranian Islamist politician who served as the seventh president of Iran from 2013 to 2021. He is also a sharia lawyer ("Wakil"), academic, former diplomat and Islamic cleric. He served as a member of Iran's Assembly of Experts from 1999 to 2024. He was a member of the Expediency Council from 1991 to 2013, and also was a member of the Supreme National Security Council from 1989 to 2021. Rouhani was deputy speaker of the fourth and fifth terms of the Parliament of Iran (Majlis) and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council from 1989 to 2005. In the latter capacity, he was the country's top negotiator with the EU three, UK, France, and Germany, on nuclear technology in Iran, and has also served as a Shia mujtahid, and economic trade negotiator.

Mohammad Shariatmadari is an Iranian politician and former Minister of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare. He was in position of minister of Industry, from 2017 to 2018. He also served as minister of commerce from 1997 to 2005 in the cabinet of President Mohammad Khatami. He was campaign chairman of Hassan Rouhani for 2017 bid.

The inauguration of Hassan Rouhani as the 7th president of Iran for his second term took place in two rounds, first on Thursday 3 August 2017, when he received his presidential precept from Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and second on Saturday 5 August, when he was sworn into office in the Parliament of Iran. This marked the commencement of the second four-year term of Hassan Rouhani as president and his vice president. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Sadeq Larijani.
