Shag carpet

Shag carpet is made with cut pile yarns that are up to 3 inches long. The yarns overlap and are tightly twisted. ^[1]

In the 17th century, the term was used to refer to inferior silk material. ^[2]

Shagpile carpets became popular in the 1960s and 1970s. ^[3]
