Shigang District (Chinese :石岡區; Hanyu Pinyin :Shígāng Qū; Tongyong Pinyin :Shígang Cyu; Wade–Giles :Shih2-kang1 Ch'ü1) is a rural district in Taichung City, Taiwan. [1]
It has a population total of 14,131 and an area of 18.2105 square kilometres.
Shigang, Wanan, Jiufang, Jinxing, Longxing, Wanxing, Meizi, Tuniu, Dexing and Hecheng Village.
Taichung, officially Taichung City, is a special municipality located in central Taiwan. The China Democratic Socialist Party was a Chinese political party founded in Shanghai on 14 August 1946. It was formed through the merger of the former Chinese National Socialist Party and the Democratic Constitutionalist Party. The inaugural leader of the party was Carsun Chang. Xitun District or Situn District is the second-most populated district of Taichung, Taiwan. It is located on the western side of the city. Once considered part of the countryside, the district has seen rapid growth in recent years with department store and office towers in the redevelopment zone. Taichung City Hall is located in the district.
Local elections were held in Taiwan on 27 November 2010 to elect mayors, councillors, and village chiefs of special-municipalities, known as the Five Municipalities Elections. Mayoral candidates for the Kuomintang were elected in New Taipei, Taipei, and Taichung, while candidates for the Democratic Progressive Party were elected in Kaohsiung and Tainan. On the eve of the election, Sean Lien, son of former Vice President Chan Lien, was shot in face when he was campaigning for a Kuomintang New Taipei councillor candidate.
