Shinee World (promoted as SHINee THE 1ST CONCERT "SHINee WORLD") was the first independent concert tour by South Korean boy group Shinee. The tour kicked off in Tokyo on December 26, 2010, and ended in Osaka on November 25, 2011, with a total of 10 concerts in seven cities. [1] It attracted audiences of approximately 110,000. [2]

The photobook of the concert, The 1st Concert "Shinee World", was released on December 26, 2011. [3] Shinee also released a DVD, The 1st Concert in Japan "Shinee World", on January 11, 2012, filmed at their concerts in Tokyo and Nagoya. This was followed by a live album, The 1st Concert Album "Shinee World", which was recorded in Seoul and released on February 1, 2012. [4]

Background

On October 26, 2010, SM Entertainment announced that Shinee would commence their first concert tour on December 18 at KBS 88 Gymnasium in Seoul. [5] However, in order to accommodate demand, they changed the venue to the Olympic Gymnastics Arena and rescheduled it to the following year. [6] The tour instead began in Tokyo on December 26, 2010, at Yoyogi National Gymnasium. Originally scheduled for 6PM, an additional performance was added at 1PM due to heavy demand from fans. Over 100,000 people applied for tickets through a lottery system and both concerts sold out. At the concert, they announced that they had signed with EMI Music Japan for Japanese promotions, which were due to begin in March. [7] [8] Shinee's rescheduled Seoul concert took place on January 1, 2011. Jonghyun was unable to participate in the dance performances in the Tokyo and Seoul concerts due to an ankle injury he sustained during a promotional tour in Indonesia in October 2010. [9] He was replaced by SM trainee Lay. [10]

On July 16, Shinee held their first concert in Taipei at Taipei Arena. Their labelmate Zhang Liyin appeared as a special guest and sang a duet with Jonghyun. 10,000 tickets were sold within an hour. [11] On August 20, Shinee held a concert in Nanjing, China, at Nanjing Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, followed by Singapore on September 10. Online ticket reservations for Shinee's Singapore concert began on July 31 and within 45 minutes, all tickets were sold out. The production cost was estimated to be around $1.7 million. [12] Shinee held a concert at Nippon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya on October 27. [13] Live recordings of performances from the concert were released on a DVD, Shinee The 1st Concert In Japan "Shinee World", on January 11, 2012. On December 24, 2011, it was announced that Shinee would release a DVD of their Shinee World concert in Japan on January 11, 2012. It was filmed at Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo on December 26, 2010, and Nippon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya on October 27, 2011. [16]

In the first week of sales, it sold over 29,000 copies, giving them second place on the weekly Oricon DVD Chart. This was the highest peak by an overseas male artist on the DVD chart since Oricon began DVD rankings in 1999. [17]

He also participated in SM Entertainment's project group, SM the Ballad, for the release of two EP albums.

He debuted as a member of the boy band Shinee in May 2008 and the supergroup SuperM in 2019, both under SM Entertainment, and has subsequently been labeled by media outlets as the "Idol's Idol" due to the large number of idols citing him as an inspiration. As an actor, Taemin's first role was as Junsu in the 2009 MBC comedy Tae-Hee, Hye-Kyo, Ji-Hyun.

Romeo is the second EP by South Korean boy group Shinee. It was released on May 25, 2009, in South Korea under the seal of the label SM Entertainment. The EP consists of six tracks including the title song "Juliette" and is Shinee's first Korean release after a seven-month hiatus. On August 29, 2011, a Japanese version of "Juliette" was released as Shinee's second Japanese single with the original Japanese song "Kiss Kiss Kiss" as a B-side. The release peaked at number three on the weekly Oricon chart.

Shinee World 2014 was the third Japan nationwide concert tour by South Korean boy band Shinee, to promote their third Japanese studio album I'm Your Boy. The tour kicked off in Chiba on September 28, 2014, and ended on December 14 in Hyogo, with a total of 30 concerts in 20 cities. On March 14 and 15, 2015, Shinee performed at the Tokyo Dome for the finale performance, which was also their first time performing at the venue. The tour was attended by a total of 300,000 fans.

Shinee World V is the fifth concert tour by South Korean boy group Shinee. The tour kicked off in Seoul with three concerts held between September 2–4, 2016.

Shinee World 2017 was the fifth Japan nationwide concert tour by South Korean boy band Shinee, to promote their fifth Japanese studio album Five. The initial arena tour kicked off in Fukui on January 28, 2017, and ended in Tokyo on April 30, 2017, with a total of 25 concerts in 10 cities. It attracted a total of 250,000 fans. On June 22, 2017, concerts for SHINee WORLD 2017 ~FIVE~ Special Edition in Tokyo Dome and Osaka Dome were announced on Shinee's official Japanese website for September 2–3 and September 23–24, respectively. With the addition of the dome concerts, the tour wrapped up with a total of 29 shows and a total attendance of 430,000. This was their last tour with member Jonghyun who died on December 18, 2017.

Shinee World the Best 2018 was the sixth Japan concert tour by South Korean boy band Shinee. This tour was described as a culmination of Shinee's activities in Japan since debut, kicking off in Kyocera Dome Osaka on February 17, 2018, and ending in Tokyo Dome on February 27, 2018. The associated album for this tour was Shinee the Best from Now On. The concerts drew in audiences of over 180,000.

Shinee World VI: Perfect Illumination is the sixth concert tour by South Korean boy band Shinee. It began on June 23, 2023, at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, and continued on to Japan later in the year. The tour is Shinee's first in several years, after a hiatus brought on by mandatory military service and the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been well received by critics, who have praised Shinee's live singing and performance skills, and was awarded Stage of the Year at the 2023 Melon Music Awards.

South Korean boy band Shinee have released 56 music videos and 14 video albums, and have additionally appeared in a number of films and television shows. They debuted in 2008 with the release of their first single, "Replay", and its accompanying music video. Since then, they have released music videos for numerous songs, including "Ring Ding Dong" (2009), "Lucifer" (2010), "Sherlock " (2012), "Everybody" (2013) and "View" (2015). In 2012, they released a video album showcasing their first concert in Japan, Shinee the 1st Concert in Japan "Shinee World", which ranked number two on the weekly Oricon DVD Chart. They have continued to release video albums for many of their subsequent concert tours. Shinee have appeared in the documentary films I Am (2012) and SM Town: The Stage (2015), and released the concert film My Shinee World in 2023.
