West Edmonton Mall (WEM), located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, is the largest shopping mall in North America, followed by King of Prussia Mall, and the 23rd largest in the world by gross leasable area. It was the world's largest mall until 2004. The mall was founded by the Ghermezian brothers, who emigrated from Iran in 1959. Its anchors are Hudson's Bay, London Drugs, La Maison Simons, The Brick, and Winners/HomeSense.
Pontianak is the capital of the Indonesian province of West Kalimantan, founded by Syarif Abdurrahman Alkadrie as a capital of Sultanate of Kadriyah on 23 October 1771 / 14 Rajab 1185 AH. Syarif Abdurrahman Alkadrie developed Pontianak as a trading port on the island of Borneo, occupying an area of 107.82 km² in the delta of the Kapuas River. It is located on the equator, hence it is widely known as Kota Khatulistiwa. The city center is less than 3 kilometres (2 mi) south of the equator. Pontianak is the 26th largest city in Indonesia in terms of population, as well as the fifth largest city on the island of Borneo in terms of population after Samarinda, Banjarmasin, Kuching and Balikpapan.
Bengkayang Regency is a regency ("kabupaten") in West Kalimantan Province of Indonesia,. It was originally a part of Sambas Regency, but following the expansion of the population in that area, Sambas Regency was divided into Sambas Regency and Bengkayang Regency, and Singkawang City was subsequently cut out of Bengkayang Regency. The regency now covers an area of 5,075.48 km2, and had a population of 215,277 at the 2010 Census; the latest official estimate is 222,645.

The Battle of Borneo was a successful campaign by Japanese Imperial forces for control of Borneo island and concentrated mainly on the subjugation of the Kingdom of Sarawak, Brunei, North Borneo, and the western part of Kalimantan that was part of the Dutch East Indies. The Japanese main unit for this mission was the 35th Infantry Brigade led by Major-General Kiyotake Kawaguchi.

Quadrasura is a genus of moth in the subfamily Arctiinae which was erected in 2001. The only species in the genus Quadrasura ktimuna was formerly placed in the genus Asura. The species is found in Borneo. The species is only known from the two original specimens from Kalimantan. The type locality is Smitau, inland from Singkawang which is on the coast of western Kalimantan north of Pontianak.
