Singhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground Cricket ground in Sri Lanka

The Singhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground is one of the most famous cricket grounds in Sri Lanka, and the headquarters of Sri Lanka Cricket, the controlling body of cricket in Sri Lanka. The ground is sometimes described as "the Lord's of Sri Lanka", It hosts the most domestic finals and is an important international cricket venue. The ground staged its first Test in 1984 against New Zealand and its first One Day International in 1982 against England. The Sri Lankan team has an impressive record here. Out of 38 Tests played at the SSC as of January 2015, Sri Lanka has won 18 matches, and drawn 14, with only 6 losses.

The Bangladeshi cricket team toured Sri Lanka for three One Day International cricket matches and two Test cricket matches in August and September 2005. The Bangladeshi team is coming off a moderately successful tour of England, by their standards, as they pushed Australia close in one ODI and beat them in another. However, they still lost five out of six matches in the NatWest Series, and both of the Test matches, and remain at the bottom of both the ICC Test Championship and ICC ODI Championship. The hosts Sri Lanka, meanwhile, are undefeated in home ODI tournaments since February 2004, and in home Test series since March 2004, both against the top-ranked Australia. Their win in the Indian Oil Cup a month before this series saw them into second place in the ODI Championship, but they are only ranked sixth in Tests.

Upul Tharanga Sri Lankan cricketer

Warushavithana Upul Tharanga, commonly known as Upul Tharanga, is a former professional Sri Lankan cricketer, and a former limited over captain who played for all formats of the game. He is a left-handed opening batsman and occasional wicket-keeper. On 23 February 2021, Upul announced his retirement from international cricket.

The Sri Lankan cricket team toured New Zealand for cricket matches during the 2006–07 cricket season. It was the third successive season Sri Lanka visited New Zealand, after the 2005–06 tour was aborted and reschuled for the winter of 2005–06. Originally, the tour had been set to include three Tests and five One Day Internationals, but New Zealand Cricket chief executive Martin Snedden announced in June that one of the Tests would be replaced with two Twenty20 Internationals.

The India cricket team toured Sri Lanka between 18 July and 2 September 2001. The two sides played a triangular ODI series also involving New Zealand, following which they played a three-match Test series. India's tour also included a one-day and a three-day fixture ahead of the ODI and Test series respectively.

The Bangladesh cricket team toured Sri Lanka for three Test matches and three One Day Internationals in June and July 2007. This series held Mohammad Ashraful's first Test and ODI matches as captain of Bangladesh. Sri Lanka ended up winning all the Test matches and One-day Internationals.

The West Indies cricket team is touring Sri Lanka from 10 November to 21 December 2010. The tour consists of one three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Tests. A three-day tour match between West Indies and Sri Lanka Cricket president's XI was also played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground from 10–12 November.

The Australian cricket team toured Sri Lanka from 6 August to 20 September 2011. The tour consisted of two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Tests played for Warne–Muralitharan Trophy. Four uncapped players had been named in the Australian Test squad; Shaun Marsh, Trent Copeland, James Pattinson and Nathan Lyon. Lyon had only made four first-class appearances and was previously one of the groundstaff at the Adelaide Oval.

The Sri Lankan cricket team toured South Africa from 9 December 2011 to 22 January 2012. The tour included three Tests and five One Day Internationals (ODIs) between Sri Lanka and South Africa.

2014 Asia Cup

The 2014 Asia Cup was the twelfth edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament. The tournament was held in Bangladesh from 25 February to 8 March 2014. Pakistan were the defending champions, having won the previous tournament. The tournament included the four Asian test-playing nations, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka; and ICC Asian Associate member Afghanistan. This was the first 50-over tournament in which Afghanistan took part. Ten league matches were played along with the final. The title sponsors of the tournament were Arise India and it was powered by Cycle Agarbathis. Sri Lanka Beat Pakistan in the final to become Asia Cup champions for the fifth time.

The Sri Lankan cricket team toured Australia from 6 December 2012 to 28 January 2013. The tour consisted of three Tests, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Tests were played for the Warne–Muralidaran Trophy. The Test series was preceded by a match against the Cricket Australia Chairman's XI and Sri Lankans.

Mathurage Don Kusal Janith Perera ; born 17 August 1990), more commonly known as Kusal Perera, is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer and current ODI Captain. He plays all forms of the game for the Sri Lanka national cricket team, and currently one of the permanent middle order batsman in all formats. He was a key member of the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 winning team. In domestic cricket, he plays for the Wayamba cricket team.

The Bangladesh cricket team toured Sri Lanka from 3 to 31 March 2013. The tour consisted of two Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and a Twenty20 International (T20I).

The South African cricket team toured Sri Lanka from 20 July to 6 August 2013. The tour consisted of five One Day International and three Twenty20 International matches. Sri Lankan ODI captain Angelo Mathews was suspended for the first two ODI matches due to maintaining a slow over-rate during the final match of the West Indies tri-nation series. The other members of the Sri Lanka team were fined 40% of their match fees. Dinesh Chandimal served as captain in Mathews' stead making him, at 23, the youngest ODI captain in the history of Sri Lankan cricket.

The Sri Lanka and Pakistan national cricket teams toured the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 11 December 2013 to 20 January 2014. The tour included three Tests, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The England cricket team toured Sri Lanka from 21 November to 16 December 2014 playing a seven-match ODI series against the Sri Lankan national cricket team. It was Sri Lanka's first seven-match ODI series played at home. Sri Lanka won the 7-match series 5–2. The series marked the final international matches that Mahela Jayawardene played in his home country and Kumar Sangakkara's final ODIs at home before their retirements after the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

The Sri Lankan national cricket team toured New Zealand from 26 December 2014 to 29 January 2015 for a tour consisting of two Test matches and seven One Day Internationals. New Zealand won the Test series 2–0 and the ODI series 4–2.

The Sri Lanka cricket team toured India from 30 October to 16 November 2014 for five One Day Internationals (ODIs) after the abandonment of the West Indies tour of India due to a pay dispute. India won the series 5–0 their fourth 5-0 whitewash in ODI history. It is also Sri Lanka's first 0-5 whitewash loss.

The Pakistan cricket team toured Sri Lanka from 11 June to 1 August 2015. The tour consisted of a three-day tour match against a SLCB President's XI, three Test matches, five One Day International and two Twenty20 International matches. The third Test was originally scheduled to be played at the R Premadasa Stadium, but was changed to the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in early May.
