St. George's Church, Cheppad (founded 1924), is a church in a village known as Cheppad or Cheppaud in Alappuzha district of Kerala state of India. St. George's Church in Cheppad belongs to the Niranam Diocese of the Malankara Archdiocese, under the supreme ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Syriac Orthodox Church, headed by Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and all the East.

The Jacobite Syrian Christian Church (JSCC), also known as the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, the Jacobite Syrian Church, or the Syriac Orthodox Church in India, is an autonomous Oriental Orthodox church based in the Indian state of Kerala, and is an integral branch of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch. It recognizes the Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East as Supreme Head of the church. It functions as a largely autonomous unit within the church, under the authority of the Catholicos of India, Thomas I. Currently, this is the only church in Malankara which has a direct relationship with the Syriac Christians of Antioch, which has continued from after the schism and it continues to employ the West Syriac Rite Liturgy of Saint James.

Mor Themotheos Thomas is the Metropolitan of Kottayam Diocese and Secretary to the Holy Episcopal Synod of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church. Mor Themotheos Thomas was ordained as the Metropolitan of the Outside Kerala Diocese on 3 January 1991 by Mor Baselios Paulose II Catholicos of the East .

Baselios Paulose I or Murimattathil Bava was the first Catholicos of the East after its reinstatement in India. The First Catholicos of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church was in power only for seven months and eighteen days. He was 76 years old when he became the Catholiocs and died the following year.He was the 111th Successor to the Holy Apostolic Throne of St.Thomas.

Malankara Church

The Malankara Church refers to the collection of Indian apostolic churches, according to tradition, that claims ultimate origins from the missions of Thomas the Apostle in the 1st century in India and were under the leadership of Marthoma I after the historical Coonan Cross Oath of 1653. All the Churches belonging to the Malankara patrimony follow the Antiochian West Syriac Rite liturgy. The word "Malankara" is a combination of two words, 'Mala' which means mountains and 'Kara' which means land surface; and refers to the state of Kerala in India.

Niranam Diocese of Jacobite Syrian Christian Church

Niranam diocese, the smallest and one of the oldest dioceses of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, is located in Niranam, India. Niranam is one of the places where St. Thomas the Apostle preached in the 1st century.

Thrikkunathu Seminary is a historic former seminary under the ownership of Jacobite Syrian orthodox Church in the Thrikkunnathu neighborhood of Aluva, Ernakulam. It is the former Headquarters of the Angamaly Diocese of Jacobite Syrian orthodox Church. Owing to an ownership dispute between the Indian (Malankara) Orthodox and Jacobite Syrian Christian churches both the seminary and its St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian orthodox Church,Thrikkunnathu building were closed in December 1977. The church is a pilgrimage site for Christians in India. The ownership of the church was given to the Malankara Orthodox Church after the high court verdict as of 22 January 2018.
