Jacques Michel Stephan Beeharry (born 19 April 1975) is a Mauritian badminton player and coach. [1] [2] He competed at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics, [3] also at the 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games. [4] [5] [6] Beeharry was the bronze medalists at the 2003 All-Africa Games in the men's singles, doubles, and team events. [7]

Career overview

Olympic Games

At the 1996 Summer Olympics, he competed in men's singles event and defeated by Fumihiko Machida of Japan in the first round with the score 15-11, 15-5. In men's doubles event, he was partnered with Eddy Clarisse and defeated by Peter Blackburn and Paul Straight of Australia in the first round with the score 15-3, 15-7. In mixed doubles event, he was partnered with Martine de Souza and defeated by Jens Eriksen and Helene Kirkegaard of Denmark in the first round with the score 15-6, 15-8. At the 2000 Summer Olympics, he competed in mixed doubles event partnered with Marie-Helene Valerie-Pierre and defeated by the Canadian pairs Mike Beres and Kara Solmundson in the first round with the score 15-2, 15-6. Beeharry is now works as a lecturer of physical education in Collège du Saint-Esprit. [8]

Christoffel Cornelius Dednam is a badminton player from South Africa. Dednam was the gold medallists at the 2003 All-Africa Games in the mixed doubles event, and in 2007 in the men's doubles event. He competed at the 2004, 2008 Olympic Games, and at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Dednam played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's singles, losing in the round of 32 to Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand. He also competed in mixed doubles with partner Antoinette Uys. They lost to Tsai Chia-Hsin and Cheng Wen-Hsing of Chinese Taipei in the round of 32. In 2011, she won the bronze medals at the All-Africa Games in the women's doubles and mixed team event.

Pranaav Jerry Chopra is an Indian badminton player. He joined the India national badminton team in 2007. In the year 2018, at the Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast, Queensland, he won the gold medal in mixed team as being a member of the Indian mixed team. He is only the second player from India to reach Top 15 in the World Rankings in Mixed Doubles with his partner.

Goh V Shem Badminton player

Goh V Shem is a Malaysian badminton player in the doubles event. He was partnered with Tan Wee Kiong after their outstanding performance at the 2014 Thomas Cup. Together, Goh and Tan won the gold medal for the men's doubles event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games as well as all their matches in the mixed team event, helping Malaysia retain the gold medal for the third consecutive time. They also won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games and the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, thus making them the second ever Malaysian men's doubles pair to win the silver medal at the Olympic Games 20 years after the feat was achieved by Cheah Soon Kit and Yap Kim Hock in 1996 Atlanta. Goh and Tan are also the fourth Malaysian men's doubles pair to hold the world number 1 ranking after Cheah and Yap followed by Chan Chong Ming and Chew Choon Eng, and later on by Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong ever since official rankings were kept in the 80s.

Setyana Mapasa Badminton player

Setyana Daniella Florensia Mapasa is an Australian badminton player. Mapasa won a silver medal at the 2013 BWF World Junior Championships mixed team when she represented Indonesia. She officially became an Australian citizen in 2014. She was selected to join the national team compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. She was four times women's doubles Oceania champions from 2017 to 2020 with her partner Gronya Somerville, also two times champion in the mixed doubles event in 2017 and 2018 alongside Sawan Serasinghe.

Kate Foo Kune Badminton player from Mauritius (born 1993)

Kate Jessica Kim Lee Foo Kune is a badminton player from Mauritius. She began playing badminton in Mauritius at age six. Her first major tournament participation was 2013 BWF World Championships in China, where she lost in the first round of women's singles to Sarah Walker of England. Foo Kune represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was the flag bearer for Mauritius during the Parade of Nations.

Jovica Rujević is a Serbian male badminton player, and a former South Africa national badminton team. In 1996, he was the semi finalist at the South Africa International tournament in the men's doubles event with Dave Calvert. In 2013, he reach the final round at the Botswana International tournament in the men's doubles event partnered with Andries Malan. The duo became the runner-up after defeated by the Slovenian pair in the rubber game. At the Balkan Badminton Championships, he won the bronze medal in the mixed team event. He and Malan also the semi finalist at the 2016 South Africa International tournament. He also play for the Novi Sad badminton club, and in 2013 he won the men's and mixed doubles title at the Vojvodina Championship, and also became the runner-up in the men's singles event.

Georges Julien Paul is a Mauritian badminton player. Paul took part at the 2014 African Youth Games, and won three gold medals in the individual event. He was part of the national team that won the gold medal at the 2015 African Games. Paul won the men's singles title at the 2018 and 2020 African Championships.

Dennis Coke is a Jamaican badminton player who competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore. In 2009, he won the boys' singles and doubles at the All Jamaica Junior Championships. At the BWF International tournament, he was the men's doubles runner-up at the 2015 Carebaco International and mixed doubles runner-up at the 2017 Jamaica International. He also won the bronze medal at the 2016 Pan Am Badminton Championships in the mixed doubles event partnered with Wynter. In 2017, he won the Jamaican National Badminton Championships in the men's singles and doubles event partnered with Anthony McNee. Coke was part of the national team that won the men's team bronze at the 2018 Pan Am Men's Team Championships. In 2018, he competed at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

Amrita Sawaram is a Mauritian badminton player. She won the gold medal at the 2000 African Championships in the women's singles event, made her as the first Mauritian female to win that competition. Sawaram competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia in the women's singles and doubles event. Sawaram also represented her country in three consecutive Commonwealth Games in 1998, 2002, and 2006.

Denis Constantin is a former Mauritian badminton player, and later represented Australia. He was the men's singles gold medallist at the 2000 African Championships, and in the men's doubles event partnered with Eddy Clarisse. He then defend the men's doubles gold in 2002 partnered with Stephan Beeharry. Constantin competed for Mauritius at the 1998, and 2002 Commonwealth Games, also at the 2000 Summer Olympics. He was awarded Athlete of the Month by the Mauritius Sports Council in June 2001. Constantin graduated from the La Trobe University in Melbourne, and now work as physiotherapists.
