Steven Newmark (born July 1) is an American sports executive who is the Executive Associate Athletic Director & Athletic director in waiting at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He previously was the Team President of NASCAR team RFK Racing from 2010 to 2025.

Career

2010–2025: RFK Racing

Newmark joined RFK Racing in April 2010, starting as senior vice president of business operations, before stepping into the president role in December of that year. During his years leading the well-known race team, Newmark helped navigate the organization through changes within both the sport and the business. [1] Newmark has been a prominent figure in the NASCAR community for years. During his tenure at RFK Racing, he oversaw the careers of full-time veteran drivers Brad Keselowski, Ryan Preece, and Chris Buescher. All three have been consistently competitive, regularly finishing in the top 10 during recent races. [2]

2025–present: University of North Carolina

On July 1, 2025, he left RFK Racing and became executive associate athletic director and athletic director in waiting at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He will be athletic director starting on July 1, 2026, due to Bubba Cunningham retiring that day.
