Steven Scutt (born 1956), is a male former athlete who competed for England. He won a gold medal for England in the 4x400m relay at the 1982 Commonwealth Games held in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. [1] He was also a two time United Kingdom champion in the 400m race.
Scutt was a twice United Kingdom National champion after winning the 1979 UK Athletics Championships and the 1981 UK Athletics Championships over 400 metres. [2] He ran for the Woodford Green Athletics Club. [3]
He represented England and won a gold medal with Garry Cook, Phil Brown and Todd Bennett, in the 4x400m relay, at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He also competed in the 400 metres individual event where he progressed to the semi-finals. [4] [5]
He was engaged to and then married fellow international athlete Michelle Scutt in 1980. [6] [7] In 2009, he was sentenced to 30 months in prison for fraud for misappropriating the money entrusted to him for developing and marketing an energy drink. [1] [8]
Kathryn Jane Cook is a former elite athlete, specialising in sprint and sprint relays. She is regarded as one of the most successful female sprinters in British athletics history. She is three-times an Olympic bronze medallist, including at 400 metres in Los Angeles 1984. Her other individual achievements include winning the 200m at the 1981 Universiade, finishing second in the 100m at the 1981 World Cup, and winning a bronze medal in the 200m at the 1983 World Championships. She is also three-times a winner of the British Athletics Writers' Association Female Athlete of the Year Award (1980–82).
Shirley Elaine Holloway is a British former athlete who competed mainly in the 100 metres hurdles. In this event, she won a silver medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, a gold medal at the 1982 Commonwealth Games, and a silver medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games. She also held the British record from 1980 to 1988.
Beverley Lanita Callender is an English former track and field sprinter. Michael "Mike" Anthony McFarlane OBE is a retired British athlete who competed mainly in the 100 metres and 200 metres. He won an Olympic silver medal in the 4×100 metres relay at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He was the 200 m gold medallist at the 1982 Commonwealth Games and a 60 metres gold medallist at the 1985 European Athletics Indoor Championships. McFarlane won two further sprint medals at the 1986 Commonwealth Games.
Wendy Patricia Hoyte is a British former sprinter, who won a 1982 Commonwealth Games gold medal and a 1982 European Championships silver medal in the 4 x 100 metres relay. She also competed at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games. She is the holder of the United Kingdom indoor 50 m record, which she set in 1981. As of 2016, the record still stands.
