Steve Stenstrom (born December 23, 1971) is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Stanford Cardinal. He was selected in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL draft.
Stenstrom attended Stanford University where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Stenstrom was the starting quarterback at Stanford University from 1991 to 1994, and still holds many of Stanford's passing records: [2]
Stenstrom was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL draft. [3] Stenstrom played in five NFL seasons from 1996 to 1999 for the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers. He started seven games for the Bears during the 1998 season, as well as three games for the 49ers during the 1999 season after Steve Young's career-ending injury. He spent a partial season with the Detroit Lions in 2000 and then signed on with the Denver Broncos in the spring of 2001 where he retired from the NFL shortly thereafter.
Following his football career, Stenstrom returned to Stanford University to lead the Cardinal Life Christian ministry for athletes and along with his wife, Lori, established a program in the San Francisco Bay Area called 2nd Mile.[ citation needed ] Stenstrom is now the President of Pro Athletes Outreach (PAO), a Christian outreach program for coaches, players, and professional athletes. [4] His son, Blake, is a quarterback for Princeton University. His daughter, Brooke, swam for Stanford from 2016-2020. His youngest daughters, Lindsay and Ashley, currently (as of 2022) swim for UCLA.
William Ernest Walsh was an American professional and college football coach. He served as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers and the Stanford Cardinal, during which time he popularized the West Coast offense. After retiring from the 49ers, Walsh worked as a sports broadcaster for several years and then returned as head coach at Stanford for three seasons.

Joseph Clifford Montana Jr. is an American former professional football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 16 seasons, primarily with the San Francisco 49ers. Nicknamed "Joe Cool" and "the Comeback Kid", Montana is widely regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. After winning a national championship with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Montana began his NFL career in 1979 at San Francisco, where he played for the next 14 seasons. With the 49ers, Montana started and won four Super Bowls and was the first player to be named the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player (MVP) three times. He also holds Super Bowl career records for most passes without an interception and the all-time highest passer rating of 127.8. In 1993, Montana was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he played for his last two seasons and led the franchise to its first AFC Championship Game. Montana was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
Jon Steven Young is an American former professional football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 15 seasons, most notably with the San Francisco 49ers. He was drafted by and played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Prior to his NFL career, Young was a member of the Los Angeles Express in the United States Football League (USFL) for two seasons. He played college football for the BYU Cougars, setting school and NCAA records en route to being runner-up for the 1983 Heisman Trophy.
John Albert Elway Jr. is an American former professional football quarterback who spent his entire 16-year career with the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the head coach at the University of Michigan from 2015 to 2023, the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014, Stanford University from 2007 to 2010, and the University of San Diego from 2004 to 2006. Harbaugh played college football at Michigan from 1983 to 1986 and in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons from 1987 to 2000, with his longest tenure (1987–1993) as a player with the Chicago Bears.
Richard Franklin Mirer is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback for 12 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the second overall pick of the 1993 NFL draft. In his first season, Mirer set the rookie records for passing yards, attempts, and completions. Unable to duplicate his success, however, Mirer was traded after four seasons to the Chicago Bears. He spent the remainder of his career with the New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, and Detroit Lions, mostly as a backup.

The 1993 Blockbuster Bowl game was a post-season college football bowl game between the Stanford Cardinal and the Penn State Nittany Lions played on January 1, 1993, at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. It was the third edition of the bowl game, and a Bowl Coalition game.
Kyler Cole Murray is an American professional football quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). Following one season of college football with the Texas A&M Aggies, Murray played for the Oklahoma Sooners, where he won the Heisman Trophy as a junior. Murray was selected first overall by the Cardinals in the 2019 NFL draft. He was also selected ninth overall by the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB) in the 2018 draft, making him the first player to be drafted in the first round of both sports.
