Superstar Hrvatska (also stylized as SuperStar) is a Croatian singing reality competition television series, the most recent Croatian entry in the global Idol franchise. The series premiered on 23 September 2023 on RTL. The second season premiered on 28 September 2024.
Superstar is one of several Croatian iterations based on the Idol format. Nova TV previously aired Hrvatski Idol , which ran for two seasons between 2004 and 2005. RTL, the same network that airs Superstar, previously aired Hrvatska traži zvijezdu (English: Star Search Croatia), which ran for three seasons between 2009 and 2011. [1]
Applications for the first season were opened from December 2022 to May 2023. [1] It was revealed that the winner of the first season will receive a €50.000 prize. [1] The filming of the first season took place during Summer 2023. [2] The first season was won by Hana Ivković. [3]
Applications for the second season opened on 9 December 2023, on the day the final episode of the first season was broadcast. The filming for the second season began in late June 2024. [4] The second season was won by Karla Miklaužić. [5]
The series consists of three stages: the auditions, the recall and live shows. In the second season, each of the four judges have the ability to award one platinum card to a select contestant during the auditions stage; the platinum card allows its recipient to advance further in the competition. [6]
No host is present during the auditions and the recall stage; a narration provided by Baby Dooks is featured instead. The live shows of the first season were hosted by Antonija Blaće. [7]
The judges for the first season were revealed in June 2023. [8] The judging panel consist of Croatian singers Severina and Nika Turković, musician and songwriter Tonči Huljić, and music producer Filip Miletić. [8] In June 2024, RTL revealed that the judging panel would remain unchanged for the second season. [4]

The series premiered on 23 September 2023 and aired Saturdays at 20:15 CET. [9] All episodes, excluding live shows, were available to watch 24 hours before their television premiere on RTL's streaming service Voyo. [10] The second season premiered on 28 September 2024. [11]

Severina Vučković, better known mononymously as Severina, is a Croatian singer-songwriter and actress. In 2006, the Croatian weekly Nacional listed her among the 100 most influential Croats, calling her "the only bona fide Croatian celebrity".
RTL is a Croatian free-to-air television network founded on 30 April 2004. It was owned by the RTL Group from 2004 to 2022. Since 1 June 2022, it is owned by the CME Group. It is the second commercial television network in Croatia that has a national concession, following Nova TV.
Nova TV is a Croatian free-to-air television network launched on 28 May 2000. It was the first commercial television network with national concession in the country. Magazin is a Croatian pop band from Split. Founded in 1979 under the name Dalmatinski magazin, the band quickly began to make a mark on local pop music festivals with its songs influenced by Dalmatian folk music. One of the most prominent bands in Yugoslavia and one of the longest lasting, with 45 years active in the music industry in Croatia and former Yugoslavia. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Lorena Bućan, guitarist Željko Baričić and bass guitarist Nenad Vesanović Keko. Baričić is the only active founding member even though Vesanović featured on every album to date.
Hrvatski Idol is the Croatian version of Pop Idol. There have been two seasons of Hrvatski Idol. The first one was won by Žanamari Lalić who received 54% of the vote in the final night. Patrick Jurdić won the second season with 50.22% of the vote in the final. Since the number of received phonecalls was only 2.296, Jurdić won with not more than 10 votes over runner-up Lidija Bačić. Both winners did try out on other countries similar casting shows before: Lalić in Germany and Jurdić in both his home country Austria and the Czech Republic. However, both failed to achieve some success on their first tries and were eliminated pretty early in the competition.
Jelena Rozga is a Croatian pop, folk, and electropop singer. Born and raised in Split, Croatia, Rozga was a ballet dancer as a child. She rose to fame in 1996, when she became the lead singer of Magazin, a pop band famous in Croatia. She served as the band's lead singer until 2006, releasing a total of five studio albums. During the ten years, the band released numerous commercially and critically successful singles including "Ginem", "Minut' srca tvog" and "Minus i plus" among others.
Star Search Croatia was a Croatian singing reality competition television series that served as the second Croatian version of Pop Idol. It ran on RTL Televizija for three seasons from 2009 to 2011.
Petar Grašo is a Croatian pop singer and songwriter. In the course of his career, he has released three studio albums. In 2011, he worked on the album Ka Hashish together with Tonči Huljić & Madre Badessa Band.

Lorena Bućan is a Croatian singer and the lead vocalist of Magazin. Bućan rose to fame in 2018 after finishing third on the second season of Zvijezde. She has signed a contract with record label Tonika Records where she primarily collaborates with musician Tonči Huljić.
Vjekoslava Huljić is a Croatian lyricist, songwriter, novelist, and writer. Born in Duvno and raised in Split, Huljić emerged as a successful lyricist with several hits from the Croatian group Magazin. She is considered to be one of the most productive and successful Croatian writers and lyricists and is most widely known for her collaborations with her husband and musician Tonči Huljić.
"'Zar je ljubav spala na to (Obećanja)" is a song by Croatian pop band Magazin featuring Bosnian rock singer Mladen Vojičić Tifa. It was written by Croatian songwriter and lyricist Vjekoslava Huljić and produced by Tonči Huljić. It was released as a single through Croatia Records in 2001. The song was well received by both of the singers' fanbases. Commercially, the song achieved success in Croatia and the wider Yugoslav region. A music video was released which features the band and both of the lead vocalists singing the song along with scenes from the 2000 movie What Women Want. As of September 2022, it has over 1.5 million views on the video-streaming platform YouTube.
Melodije Jadrana 2023 was the first edition of the Melodije Jadrana festival, a song contest held annually in Split, Croatia. The show was held between 23 and 25 June 2023, and was presented by Duško Ćurlić and Monica Jakšić. Neno Belan served as the artistic director for the competition.
