The men's 400 metre freestyle at the 2007 World Aquatics Championships took place on 25 March (preliminaries and finals [1] [2] ) at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

Contents

On 11 September 2007, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, as part of a retroactive 18-month suspension for an earlier doping infraction, nullified Tunisia's Oussama Mellouli's results from these championships, which affected this event and the men's 800 metre freestyle in particular.

The men's 50-metre freestyle event was the 28th event contested of the swimming events at the 2007 World Aquatics Championships at the Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, Australia. The heats were held in the morning session of the meet on 30 March 2007, with the semi-finals in the evening session of the same day. The final was held on the evening of 31 March 2007.

The men's 800 metre freestyle was the 17th event of the swimming program at the 2007 World Aquatics Championships held in Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. The event was swum on the morning of 27 March (heats) and in the evening of 28 March. 46 swimmers were entered in the event, of which 43 swam in one of 6 preliminary heats. The top-8 finishers from the prelims qualified ("Q") to swim in the final the next evening.

The World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships is an international swimming championship event organized biennially by World Aquatics for girls and boys who are aged 14–18 on the 31st December of the year of the competition. It is usually held on odd years. Prior to 2023, the event was known as the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships and was open to girls who were aged 14–17 and boys who were aged 15–18 on the 31st of December of the year of the competition.

The men's 400 metre freestyle at the 2005 World Aquatics Championships took place on 24 July in the Olympic pool at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Canada. 57 swimmers were entered and in the event in the preliminary heats, the top-8 of which advanced on to swim again in the final heat that event.

James Magnussen is a retired Australian swimmer and Olympic medallist. He was the 2011 and 2013 100-metre freestyle world champion, and holds the record for the fifth fastest swim in history in the 100-metre freestyle, with a time of 47.10, which until 2016 also stood as the fastest swim in textile swimwear material.

The swimming portion of the 2011 FINA World Championships was held July 24–31 at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, China. Swimming is one of five aquatic disciplines at the championships.

Vladimir Viktorovich Morozov is a Russian competitive swimmer and Olympic medalist. He is the former world record holder in the short course 100-metre individual medley, the current textile world record, World Cup record and Russian national record holder in the 100-metre individual medley and 100-metre freestyle, and Russian record holder in the 50-metre freestyle. He also holds the European record for the 100-metre individual medley. The swimming events of the 15th FINA World Aquatics Championships were held July 28 – August 4, 2013, in Barcelona, Spain. The competition was held in a long course pool inside the Palau Sant Jordi. It featured 40 LCM events, split evenly between males and females. Swimming was one of the five aquatic disciplines at the championships.

David Popovici is a Romanian competitive swimmer who specializes in freestyle events. He is the current holder of the world record in the long course 100-metre freestyle and the junior world record in the long course 200-metre freestyle. He also holds the junior world record in the short course 100-metre freestyle. At the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, Popovici won gold medals in his two signature events, becoming the first swimmer to do so at the same edition of the World Championships, since Jim Montgomery in 1973. Following his performances during the 2022 long course season, in which he won eleven gold medals and two silver medals, Popovici was voted Male Swimmer of the Year by both SwimSwam and Swimming World Magazine. During that summer, he established an unprecedented level of dominance, especially in the long course 100-metre freestyle, recording 13 of the 19-fastest swims in the world in 2022, while also becoming only the third swimmer in history to set an under 1:43 time in the long course 200-metre freestyle.

Ahmed Ayoub Hafnaoui is a Tunisian swimmer. He is the African record holder in the long course 400-metre and 1500-metre freestyle, and the short course 800-metre and 1500-metre freestyle events. He competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics, where he won a gold medal in the men's 400-metre freestyle. He ranked No. 16 in the world and was the slowest qualifier for the final race but won Olympic gold with a time of 3:43.36. Hafnaoui was the only Tunisian to win Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020.
