Szczawinskia is a genus of leaf-dwelling lichens in the family Pilocarpaceae. The genus contains five species. [2] The genus was circumscribed by Canadian mycologist Alvin Funk in 1984, with Szczawinskia tsugae assigned as the type species. [3]
The genus name Szczawinskia honours (Russian-) Canadian botanist Adam Franciszek Szczawinski (1913–2006). [4]
The species formerly known as Szczawinskia permira(Vězda) Farkas (2015) [7] is now known as Uluguria permira . [8]
The Pilocarpaceae are a family of crustose lichens in the order Lecanorales. The species of this family have a cosmopolitan distribution and have been found in a variety of climatic regions. Pilocarpaceae was circumscribed by Alexander Zahlbruckner in Adolf Engler's influential 1905 work Die Natürlichen Pflanzenfamilien.
Bacidina is a genus of lichens in the family Ramalinaceae. It was circumscribed by Czech lichenologist Antonín Vězda in 1990, with Bacidina phacodes assigned as the type species. Vězda included 11 species in Bacidina, which was originally classified in the Lecideaceae. These species had previously been placed in genus Bacidia.
Cliostomum is a genus of lichenized fungi in the family Ramalinaceae. It has about 25 species.
Fuscopannaria is a genus of lichen-forming fungi in the family Pannariaceae. It has 55 species.
Calopadia is a genus of foliicolous (leaf-dwelling) lichens in the family Pilocarpaceae. It was circumscribed by Czech lichenologist Antonín Vězda in 1986.
Byssoloma is a genus of leaf-dwelling lichens in the family Pilocarpaceae.
Arthothelium is a genus of lichenized fungi in the family Arthoniaceae.
Agonimia is a genus of lichen-forming fungi in the family Verrucariaceae.
Psoroglaena is a genus of lichen-forming fungi in the family Verrucariaceae. The genus was circumscribed by Johann Müller Argoviensis in 1891, with Psoroglaena cubensis assigned as the type species.
Lecidella is a genus of crustose lichens in the family Lecanoraceae.
Gyalidea is a genus of crustose lichens in the family Gomphillaceae. It has 50 species.
Gyalideopsis is a genus of lichens in the family Gomphillaceae. The genus was circumscribed by Czech lichenologist Antonín Vězda in 1972.
Absconditella is a genus of lichenised fungi in the family Stictidaceae. The genus was circumscribed in 1965 by Czech lichenologist Antonín Vězda, with Absconditella sphagnorum assigned as the type species. Absconditella is characterised by gyalectoid apothecia with a hymenium that is not amyloid, without a dark pigment and thalli containing green algae as photobionts. The genus name means "hidden", a reference to the scant structure of the thallus and its small apothecia.
Porpidia is a genus of crustose lichens in the family Lecideaceae.
Rhizocarpon is a genus of crustose, saxicolous, lecideoid lichens in the family Rhizocarpaceae. The genus is common in arctic-alpine environments, but also occurs throughout temperate, subtropical, and even tropical regions. They are commonly known as map lichens because of the prothallus forming border-like bands between colonies in some species, like the common map lichen.
Fuscidea is a genus of crustose lichens in the family Fuscideaceae. It has about 40 species. The genus was circumscribed in 1972 by lichenologists Volkmar Wirth and Antonín Vězda, with Fuscidea aggregatilis assigned as the type species.
Ropalospora is a genus of lichen-forming fungi, and the sole member of the monogeneric family Ropalosporaceae. The genus was circumscribed by Italian lichenologist Abramo Bartolommeo Massalongo in 1860. The family was proposed by Josef Hafellner in 1984.
Palicella is a genus of crustose lichens in the family Lecanoraceae. It contains six species.
Coppinsidea is a genus of two species of crustose lichens in the family Ramalinaceae. It was circumscribed in 2019 by lichenologists Sergey Kondratyuk, Edit Farkas, and Laszlo Lőkös with Coppinsidea sphaerella designated as the type species. Species of Coppinsidea are similar in appearance and morphology to Thamnolecania, but differ from them in having a thallus that is crustose, mostly convex to almost spherical apothecia that are lecideine or biatorine in structure, as well as in being distributed in the Northern Hemisphere.
Brasilicia is a genus of leaf-dwelling lichens in the family Pilocarpaceae. It has 6 species. The genus was circumscribed in 2008 by lichenologists Robert Lücking, Klaus Kalb, and Emmanuël Sérusiaux, with B. brasiliensis assigned as the type species. The genus was originally circumscribed as monotypic; Edit Farkas transferred five species to Brasilicia from Bacidia in 2015.
