Taj Mohammed Sr. (born 1924, date of death unknown) was a footballer who played as a defender. [1] Born in Quetta in British India, [2] he represented India and Pakistan internationally. [3]

Playing career

In the 1940s, Mohammed played for Kolkata Mohammedan, where he formed a formidable defence along with Balochistan fellow Jumma Khan. [5] [6] [4] [7] He played for East Bengal in 1948 at Calcutta Football League. [8] [1]

Following the partition, Mohammed moved to Pakistan where he played for several clubs, including Mohammedan Club Quetta in 1951. [9] In 1957 he played for Pakistan Railways. [10] In 1958 he played for Gallants FC at the regional Lahore Soccer League. [11]

International career

Mohammed competed in the men's tournament at the 1948 Summer Olympics with the India national team. [12]

After representing India at international level, he migrated to Pakistan and went on to play for the Pakistan national football team. [3] [13] [14]

Goswami scored nine goals in 30 international appearances. He was an Olympian, represented India national team at the 1960 Summer Olympics. He also led the team to achieve the gold medal at the 1962 Asian Games, and earn the runners-up position at the 1964 AFC Asian Cup.

Pradip Kumar BanerjeeFIFAOM was an Indian professional footballer who played as a striker for the India national football team. He also captained the national team and later on became the coach of the national team. He represented India in 52 official matches and scored 16 official goals for the country. He was one of the first recipients of Arjuna Award, when the awards were instituted in 1961. He was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri in 1990 and was named Indian Footballer of the 20th century by IFFHS. In 2004, he was awarded the FIFA Order of Merit, the highest honour awarded by FIFA.

Sheikh Abdul Latif was an Indian footballer. He participated at the 1952 Summer Olympics, 1956 Summer Olympics and the 1960 Summer Olympics, with Syed Abdul Rahim managed India. In 1959–60, he captained the national team.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant, commonly referred to as Mohun Bagan, is an Indian professional football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal. Founded in 1889, it is one of the oldest football clubs in Asia. The club competes in the Indian Super League, the top tier of Indian football league system. The club is most notable for its victory over the East Yorkshire Regiment in the 1911 IFA Shield final. This victory made Mohun Bagan the first all-Indian club to win a championship over a British club and was a major moment during India's push for independence.

Balai Dey is a retired Indian football player who played as a goalkeeper. He is one of the few footballers who represented the two nations, India and Pakistan, in international football.

Calcutta Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by Hockey Bengal. The first edition was held in 1905. It is a division based league held at Kolkata and is the oldest field hockey league in India. Until the formation of the top division national leagues such as Premier Hockey League and Hockey India League post 2000s, the Calcutta Hockey League was the most competitive league in the country.
