Tee-Y Mix (born: Temitayo Ibitoye) is a Nigerian music executive, and board member of Dapper Group. [1] [2] [3] He is widely known for producing Naeto C's major hit "Kini Big Deal", which earned him a nomination at The Headies for Producer of the Year in 2009. [4] He also served as an A&R executive, sound engineer and primary producer, on Naeto C's debut studio album U Know My "P" , which was released in 2008. Following his departure from Storm 360, he founded Vivace Records in 2014 and is the Chief Executive Officer. [5]

As a sound engineer, he was credited for mixing Davido's "Gobe", "Aye", "Skelewu" from Queen of Katwe Soundtrack album, D'Banj's "Don't Tell Me Nonsense" from D'Kings Men compilation album, Dr SID's "Surulere" from SID's second studio album Siduction album, and Praiz's "Mercy" from his double studio album Rich & Famous [Famous]. As a television personality, he was a judge on Project Fame West Africa from 2008 to 2016. [6] On 17 October 2023, Dapper Damm named him Vice President of Dapper Group. [1]

Early life

Temitayo Ibitoye is a native of Ondo State. He was born on 22 August 1983 in Oyo State and grew up between Kaduna and Abuja. [7] He is an alumnus of the University of Abuja where he graduated with a degree in Computer science. He got his diploma in Audio Recording Engineering from the Audio Institute of America [8]

Career

On 3 August 2012, Tee-Y Mix produced the Hennessy Artistry theme song "Bartender" by M.I and Naeto C for Hennessy. [9] On 14 January 2022, he released his first official single "Closer". [10] The song features guest vocals from Oxlade and Moelogo.

Project Fame West Africa

In 2008, Tee-Y Mix appeared as one of three judges for the reality television music competition show Project Fame West Africa. Tee-Y Mix, along with fellow judges Adé Bantu and Bibie Brew, [11] evaluated thousands of amateur contestants in their ability to sing. Tee-Y Mix won praise as a sympathetic and compassionate judge. In 2020, he was also a judge on the pilot season of Access the stars music TV reality show. [12] [13] [14]

Vivace Records

In 2014 Tee-Y Mix launched his record label Vivace Records. [15] Artist signed to Vivace Records.

Panshak Henry Zamani better known as Ice Prince Zamani or just Ice Prince, is a Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter. Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, better known by his stage name Vector, is a Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter. He has released three studio albums, including State of Surprise and The Second Coming (2012). In anticipation of his second studio album, he released a mixtape titled Bar Racks. Lafíaji, his third studio album was released in December 2016. He also released a mixtape in October 2018, The Rap Dialogue, in an effort to keep the spirit of Nigerian hip-hop alive. <i>DKings Men</i> 2013 compilation album by DB Records

D'Kings Men is a compilation album by recording artists of Nigerian record label DB Records. It was released on June 24, 2013, by the label and Sony Music. The album was produced by Don Jazzy, Jay Sleek and Dee Vee. It features guest appearances from DB Records signees D'banj, Kayswitch, and J.Sol, along with musicians Kanye West, Big Sean, Snoop Lion, Fally Ipupa, Durella, Olamide, Ikechukwu and Naeto C. D'Kings Men produced eleven singles—"Oliver Twist", "Sister Caro", "Oyato", "Bachelor", "Top of the World", "Cashflow", "Don't Tell Me Nonsense", "For Example", "Finally", "Why You Love Me" and "Obimo ". It received mixed reviews from music critics, who panned its lyrics and sound.

Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, known by his stage name Iyanya, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He rose to fame after winning the first season of Project Fame West Africa, and is best known for his hit single "Kukere". He released his debut studio album My Story in 2009; it was supported by the singles "No Time" and "Love Truly". Iyanya co-founded the record label Made Men Music Group with Ubi Franklin in 2011. His second studio album, titled Desire, was released in February 2013. It supported by the singles "Kukere", "Ur Waist", "Flavour", "Sexy Mama", and "Jombolo". He won the Artist of the Year award at The Headies 2013. In October 2016, Iyanya announced on Instagram that he signed a record deal with Mavin Records. Desire is the second studio album by Nigerian singer Iyanya. It was released on 6 February 2013, by Made Men Music Group. The album features guest appearances from M.I, Wizkid, D'banj, Emma Nyra, Tiwa Savage, Flavour N'abania, May D, Vector, Tekno, and Yung L. Its production was handled by Tee-Y Mix, D'Tunes, Mr. Chidoo, GospelOnDeBeatz and Young D. The Headies is a music awards show established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. The annual ceremony features performances by established and promising artists. It is broadcast live on HipTV to viewers across Nigeria. The first and second editions of The Headies were held at the Muson Center in Onikan, Lagos State. Between 2010 and 2012, the awards were held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. Several media personalities in Nigeria have hosted the annual ceremony, including Darey Art Alade, D'banj, Dakore Egbuson, Banky W., Rita Dominic, M.I, Tiwa Savage and Dr SID.

Omo Baba Olowo is the debut studio album by Nigerian singer Davido. It was released by HKN Music on July 17, 2012, and is a mixture of Afrobeats and hip hop. The album was produced by Jay Sleek, Maleek Berry, GospelOnDeBeatz, Spellz, Dokta Frabz, Mr. Chidoo, Theory Soundz and Shizzi. Omo Baba Olowo features collaborations with Naeto C, Sina Rambo, B-Red, Kayswitch, Ice Prince, May D and 2 Face Idibia. The 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards took place on 31 August 2014, at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. The eligibility period was from March 2013 to March 2014. In April 2014, the NEA reviewing committee began collecting submissions for the 2014 edition. The deadline for submission was April 30, 2014, and the nominations were announced on May 29, 2014. Tiwa Savage and Davido received the most nominations with 5 each. Don Jazzy, Flavour N'abania and Wizkid all got four nominations each, while Olamide, Patoranking, Chidinma and Oritse Femi followed closely with three nominations.

Afrobeats is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing majorly out of Nigeria. Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife and naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the "Afrobeats" umbrella.
