Teenkahon (Three Obsessions) is a 2014 [1] Psychological mystery-thriller Bengali film directed by Bauddhayan Mukherji and produced by Monalisa Mukherji under the banner of Little Lamb Films.

Teenkahon is a triptych film. The Gulf Today described it as "a rare international art house film from Bengal which, as a piece of social document, tries to capture the changing face of morality, the degeneration of values, the increasing pollution of the spoken language and the changing social fabric of Bengal through three stories." [2]

Teenkahon is the first film of Little Lamb Films, the production house founded by Bauddhayan Mukherji.

Filming locations include places in West Bengal such as Kolkata and Bolpur.

"This fest (DC Independent Film Festival) doesn't believe in showing hundred or more films like mainstream festivals. In the narrative feature category, they've chosen just eight films from across the world. Teenkahon is the only one from Asia in the competition section and it's a rare honour for a Bengali film." [3]

Teenkahon was the only Asian film which was showcased in the prestigious DC Independent Film Festival in 2015. Director Bauddhayan Mukherji was also one of the few selected filmmakers who took part in the summit hosted by US Congressional Entertainment Industries Caucus, the topic of which was the use of drones in films and policy decisions on the usage guidelines. The seminar was presided over by American politician Brad Sherman. [3]

Teenkahon is slated for a theatrical release on 11 September 2015 in India.

Playback singer Arnab Chakraborty was chosen to compose the film score for Teenkahon. The film will be his debut as a music composer. Singer Shreya Ghoshal was reported to record a song for the film.

Accolades

Teenkahon went on to receive multiple awards in various international film festivals, being the only Bengali film in consideration in most cases. It won a Special Mention Award from six student jury members in Paris. [4] Director Bauddhayan Mukherji was bestowed with the Aravindan Puraskaram for Best Debutant Director by Beena Paul, receiving a cash prize of 25,000 (US$310), a certificate and a statuette. [7]

With this film, Ghosh had made his screenwriting debut. He made his directorial debut in 2014 with the critically acclaimed Hrid Majharey, a Bengali feature film starring Abir Chatterjee and Raima Sen. Rajkahini is an Indian Bengali-language historical drama film directed by Srijit Mukherji. The shooting of the film completed in June 2015 and the film released on 16 October 2015. The film has an ensemble cast of eleven major female characters led by Rituparna Sengupta and also stars Saswata Chatterjee, Kaushik Sen, Jisshu Sengupta, Abir Chatterjee and Jaya Ahsan in other pivotal roles. Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival (HBFF) is a Bengali film festival in the city of Hyderabad and is being organized annually since 2014. The venue of the festival is the Prasad Film Preview Labs, Hyderabad. The first edition of the film festival was held in the year 2014. It is the only curated Bengali film festival in India.

Shah Jahan Regency is an Indian Bengali drama film directed by Srijit Mukherji, under the banner of SVF Entertainment Pvt Ltd, starring Abir Chatterjee, Parambrata Chatterjee, Anjan Dutt, Mamata Shankar, Anirban Bhattacharya, Swastika Mukherjee, Rudranil Ghosh and Rittika Sen while Rituparna Sengupta and Babul Supriyo appear in Guest appearances. Datta is a 1951 Bengali romantic drama film directed by Soumyen Mukhopadhyay and released under the banner of S. B. Production. The film is based on the novel with the same name written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The film was remade twice: in 1976 and later in 2023.

Mahalaya (2019) is an Indian Bengali language drama film directed by Soumik Sen and produced by Nideas Creations and Productions Pvt Ltd. The film narrates an incident in Bengal in 1976, when Birendra Krishna Bhadra narrated and Pankaj Mullick composed widely popular Mahisasuramardini program, which has been playing on All India Radio since 1931 on the eve of Mahalaya, was replaced by a new program Durga Durgatiharini, narrated by Bengali film actor Uttam Kumar and composed by Hemanta Mukherjee. Subhasish Mukhopadhyay played the role of Bhadra and Jisshu Sengupta played the role of Uttam Kumar.

<i>The Parcel</i> 2019 Indian film

The Parcel is a 2020 Indian Bengali-language mystery cum psychological thriller film directed by Indrasis Acharya, produced by Rituparna Sengupta and Krishna Kyal. The film features Rituparna Sengupta, Saswata Chatterjee, Anindya Chatterjee and Ambarish Bhattacharya in lead roles and Sreela Majumdar and Pradip Mukherjee as supporting characters. The story of the film revolves around a doctor-couple and Nandini, the protagonist, and mysterious parcels.

Aravindan Puraskaram (Aravindan Award) is an award instituted in 1991 in the memory of iconic Malayalam filmmaker G. Aravindan for the best debutant director in Indian languages. The award comprises Rs. 25,000, a memento and a citation. The award is facilitated by Kerala Chalachitra Film Society. The award is presented on March 15 every year on the death anniversary of Aravindan, who is considered one of the pioneers of parallel cinema in Malayalam.

The West Bengal Film Journalists' Association Award for Best Actress in a supporting Role is given yearly by WBFJA as a part of its annual West Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards for Bengali films, to recognise the best actresses of the previous year.

Abhinandan Banerjee is an Indian film director and scriptwriter. His debut feature The Cloud and the Man premiered at the 25th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and won the NETPAC award for Best Asian Film, at the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival.
