There is a community of Thais in India consisting mostly of international students and expatriates from Thailand and people born in India with Thai ancestry.

Distribution

There are currently about 60 Thais living and working in Goa, mostly in Panjim and Margao. [1] Most of them work as spa therapists, beauty salon specialists and chefs in five star hotels such as the Taj Holiday village and Holiday Inn. There are also about 50 to 60 Thais residing in Mumbai. [2]

International students

More than 7,000 Thai students study in various International Schools, Indian Universities and colleges. [3] Thai students prefer Indian institutions as they provide quality education at low cost. Most of these students came to India to study subjects such as humanities, medicine and engineering. [4]

As for School education, around 2,500 Thai students get admitted to Indian boarding and international schools (IB & Cambridge curriculum) each year. The students from Thailand target mainly schools and colleges in North and South India. In North India they prefer Dehradun and New Delhi and in South India they prefer Kodaikanal & Bangalore for school. [5] There are over 5 Thai restaurants in Bangalore. [6] Bangalore has the largest number over 700 of Thai students studying in various schools.

There is a small Korean community in India, consisting largely of South Korean expatriate professionals and their families, as well as some missionaries and international students at Indian universities.

There is a small community of Singaporeans in India, consisting largely of expatriate professionals from Singapore and their families as well as international students at Indian universities, including the citizens of India who identify themselves to be of Singaporean descent. Most of them are Singaporeans of Indian descent along with a small number of Chinese Singaporeans working there and they live mainly in Chennai and Bangalore.

There is a small but recognisable Russian community in India which comprises Indian citizens of Russian heritage as well with Russian expatriates and migrants residing in India. According to the Russian government, 845 Russian citizens are registered as living in India.

There is a small Italian community in India consisting mainly of Indian citizens of Italian heritage as well with expatriates and migrants from Italy who reside in India.

Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani is a deemed university in Pilani, Rajasthan, India. It focuses primarily on higher education and research in engineering and sciences. Waves is the annual cultural festival of BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus. It is a three-day-long festival held in the late October – early November period. It is a cultural festival that is held annually to celebrate music, dance and art. It is an inter college festival with students coming in to participate in events and competitions from across the country.
