The King Stays King (also known as Formula, Vol. 1 Tour) was a worldwide concert tour by American singer Romeo Santos. The tour was a promotion for his debut solo album, Formula, Vol. 1 . On December 13, 2011, Santos announced that he would begin his initial leg of his solo tour on February 11, 2012, in the United States and ended on July 20, 2013, in Lima, Peru. [1]

Madison Square Garden

His first concert began with three consecutive shows at Madison Square Garden which all three became sold-out. [1] [2] During the concert at Madison Square Garden, Santos was accompanied by fellow bachata singer Prince Royce. For "Debate de 4", he had bachata musicians Luis Vargas and Antony Santos for one of the nights while the other nights had three men from the audience who were randomly selected to join Romeo Santos on the stage to sing the song. Raulín Rodríguez is also featured in the song but was not in any of the concerts. Usher made an appearance on the encore for the song "Promise" in which he is featured in. [3] At the final concert in the Madison Square Garden, Santos was joined by American rapper P. Diddy for the song "Mi Corazoncito". [4] The concerts at Madison Square Garden were recorded and later released as a live album and film titled The King Stays King: Sold Out at Madison Square Garden on November 6, 2012. [5]

The US tour

Following the concerts at Madison Square Garden, Santos continued his tour in Florida where he performed at the American Airlines Arena in Miami on March 1, 2012, and at the Amway Center in Orlando the following day. [6] [7] In the same month, he continued his US tour in Georgia, Massachusetts, Virginia, Illinois, Texas, California, and Arizona, and ended on March 25 in Las Vegas, Nevada. [1] He also announced that the tour would be extended to Latin American countries. [8]

The world tour

Santos began his world tour on May 31, 2012, in Venezuela where he performed in seven cities in the country: Caracas, Valencia, Barquisimeto, San Cristóbal, Mérida, Maracaibo, and Puerto La Cruz. [9] Following his performances in Venezuela, Santos performed at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, on June 23, 2012, which drew 16,000 attendees. [10] Santos continued to tour in South America where he performed two concerts in Ecuador, [11] Peru, [12] Paraguay where nearly 10,000 people attended the concert, [13] and four concerts in Argentina. [14] The concert at Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina, drew 25,000 people completely filling the capacity at the concert. [14]

In October 2012, Santos performed two concerts in Spain at Madrid and at Barcelona. [15] After his performances in Spain, the tour continued on to Central America where he performed in Honduras, [16] El Salvador, [17] and Guatemala. [18] On October 26, 2012, Santos performed in Cali, Colombia, which was originally supposed to be shared with Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Don Omar. However, Omar could not attend due to breaches with his contract with Al Eventos, the company responsible for managing the event. [19]

On December 15 and 22, 2012 Santos performed at the Estadio Olímpico in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where 50,000 people attended the concert. [20]

Second leg of the tour

The day before the concert in the Dominican Republic, Santos announced that he would start the second leg of the tour, which began on February 14, 2013, at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He perform two nights in a row the Coliseum. [5] [15] Two weeks later, Santos performed at the Movistar Arena in Chile. [21] The second tour leg continued throughout the United States from March 22, 2013, in Newark, New Jersey, until April 26, 2013, in Hollywood, California. [5] His last concerts of the tour in Latin America included shows six in cities in Mexico, one show in Panama and one in Lima, Peru which would officially end the tour on July 20, 2013.

Aventura was an American bachata group formed in The Bronx, New York. With the lineup always consisting of the members Romeo Santos, Henry Santos, Lenny Santos, and Max Santos, they are regarded as one of the most influential Latin groups of all time. All of the members are of Dominican descent, although Romeo is also half Puerto Rican on his mother's side. They were the first major bachata act to have originated in the United States instead of the Dominican Republic. The group was integral to the evolution of bachata music and are the pioneers of the modern bachata sound. Aventura released five studio albums in a decade, creating many top 10 hits like "Cuándo volverás", "Un Beso", "Mi Corazoncito", "Los Infieles", "El Perdedor", "Por un Segundo", "Dile al Amor", among others. They have sold out many arenas including the world famous Madison Square Garden. Aventura has been nominated for awards such as American Music Awards, the Latin Grammy Awards, Billboard Latin Music Awards, and Premio Lo Nuestro. Aventura is one of the most internationally recognized Latin groups of the last two decades and frequently refer to themselves as "K.O.B.", or "Kings of Bachata".

Monchy & Alexandra were a bachata musical group from the Dominican Republic. They sang together as a duo beginning in 1998. Their first big hit was "Hoja en Blanco", which they released in 1999. Since then, they had many other hits, such as "Hasta El Fin" and "Perdidos", both from their 2004 album Hasta el Fin, as well as "No Es Una Novela" from their 2006 Éxitos y Más album. They have been often credited with being instrumental in popularizing bachata music outside of the Dominican Republic.

Domingo Antonio Santos Muñoz, known professionally as Antony Santos, is a Dominican musician and singer. One of the top-selling bachata artists of all time, he is known as one of the pioneers of modern bachata in the early 1990s, with his role in redefining the genre to include romantic lyrics, poppy guitar licks, and implementation of new instruments, such as the piano and saxophone. He became the first rural bachatero to reach a mainstream audience with his hit single, "Voy Pa'lla". He has had success with other hits like "Por Mi Timidez", "No Te Puedo Olvidar", "Me Quiero Morir", "Lloro", "Solo Te Amo", "Se Acabó El Abuso" among others. Today, Santos is unanimously considered the greatest bachata artist of all time. He is known as "El Mayimbe" of Bachata, and is the second Dominican musician to acquire this moniker, after Fernando Villalona. He is also known as El Bachatú, the nickname he originally started with.

<i>K.O.B. Live</i> 2006 live album by Aventura

K.O.B. Live is the second live album released by bachata group Aventura by Premiun Latin Music distributed by Sony Music Latin. It was recorded during the promotion concert tour for their fourth studio album God's Project (2005). The tracks were recorded live in 3 United States locations which where New York City, Boston, and Puerto Rico. They also recorded in Dominican Republic and Colombia. It also contains a DVD with videos of the performance at Altos de Chavón in the Dominican Republic and at the Madison Square Garden theater in New York. In the first, the group played before some 6,000 people, while in the second they made history by becoming the first bachata group to sell all the tickets before the event for that venue.

Fórmula, Vol. 1 is the debut studio album by American singer Romeo Santos, released on November 8, 2011 by Sony Music Latin. The record contains fifteen tracks, most of which were composed by Santos and co-produced with Ivan Chevere. The album experiments with the sound of bachata and other genres including R&B and flamenco. It features several Anglophone and Hispanophone guest artists including Usher, Tomatito, Mario Domm, and Lil Wayne. Recording for the album took place in 2011 at The Castle, Fight Klub, and EMG Studios in New York City.
