The Republicans (Italian : I Repubblicani) is a non-partisan think tank and association in Italy, that operates like federation between several conservative and libertarian organization, as Tea Party Italy, Modernize Italy, as well as businessmen, local politicians and activist.
The organization, launched by Marco Reguzzoni (member and former leader in the Chamber of Deputies of Lega Nord) and Nunzia De Girolamo (member and former leader in the Chamber of the New Centre-Right) on 2 June 2015 (Republic Day), [1] [2] [3] [4] aims at uniting the Italian centre-right by taking example from the United States Republican Party and American-styled fusionism between conservative and libertarian political propositions. [5]
In June the Varese provincial section of Lega Lombarda–Lega Nord expelled Reguzzoni from the party for having launched The Republicans. [6] [7] [8] [9] [10]

Lega Nord, whose complete name is Lega Nord per l'Indipendenza della Padania, is a right-wing, federalist, populist and conservative political party in Italy. In the run-up of the 2018 general election, the party was rebranded as Lega, without changing its official name. The party was nonetheless frequently referred to only as "Lega" even before the rebranding, and informally as the Carroccio. The party's latest elected leader was Matteo Salvini.
Matteo Salvini is an Italian politician who has been serving as Deputy Prime Minister of Italy and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport since 2022. Marco Giovanni Reguzzoni is an Italian politician and entrepreneur. He was President of Varese Province from 2002 to 2008. He was a member of the Italian Parliament as congressman and president of the Northern League group since 2013 and now he is the President of Volandia, the largest museum of flight in Europe.
The 2018 Italian general election was held on 4 March 2018 after the Italian Parliament was dissolved by President Sergio Mattarella on 28 December 2017.
