KP Sharma Oli was appointed Prime Minister of Nepal for a third time on 13 May 2021 by President Bidya Devi Bhandari, as a minority prime minister, as no opposition party formed a majority government or claimed it time. [1] Citing Article 76 (3) of the constitution, Oli, leading the largest party in the House of Representatives, was re-appointed prime minister, requiring him to again prove a majority in the house within 30 days. On 22 May 2021, the House of Representatives was dissolved for the second time in 6 months by a cabinet decision followed by the approval of the President with elections on 12 and 19 November in two phases. After dissolving parliament

On 4 June 2021, the cabinet reshuffle took place when the Mahantha-Mahato faction of PSP-N joined the government with 8 cabinet ministers, 2 state ministers, and 5 others from UML. Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Raghubir Mahasheth and Rajendra Mahato were made Deputy Prime-minister. [3] While the previous expansion was yet to be clarified by the Supreme Court, Oli made another reshuffle and included 7 ministers from UML and 1 from PSP-N. [4] On 22 June, the Supreme Court removed Oli's recently appointed ministers, [5] stating article 77(3) of Constitution of Nepal prohibits a caretaker prime-minister from such action. [6]

Dissolution of cabinet

The Supreme Court ordered the President to appoint Sher Bahadur Deuba as the next Prime Minister Of Nepal within 28 hours, citing article 76(5) of the Constitution of Nepal. [7] Similarly, the dissolution of the House of Representatives was disapproved. [8]

He won the Sindhupalchowk–2 seat in Nepalese legislative elections of 2017 as part of the Communist Party of Nepal.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Second Oli cabinet</span>

The Second Oli cabinet, also known as the Oli cabinet, 2018, was the Government of Nepal from 15 February 2018 to 13 July 2021. It initially formed as a majority coalition on 15 February 2018, after Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli was elected as the new Prime Minister of Nepal following the 2017 general election. Oli's candidacy was supported by the Communist Party of Nepal and the Communist Party of Nepal. He assumed his office with two ministers and the remaining ministers were added at later points. The CPN withdrew its support from the government in May 2021, reducing it to a minority, and after the dissolution of the House of Representatives, it turned into an interim government. The cabinet was replaced by the fifth Deuba cabinet, formed after the Supreme Court ordered the appointment of Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba as prime minister under Article 76 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal.

Laxman Lal Karna is a Nepali politician and was Minister of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation since 4 June 2021 but was removed from the post by Supreme Court on 22 June 2021 making the tenure of just 18 days and shortest till date. He was also a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was elected under the first-past-the-post system from Parsa-4 constituency, representing Rastriya Janata Party Nepal. He defeated his nearest rival Ramesh Rijal of Nepali Congress by acquiring 20,738 votes to Rijal's 14,702.

Mohan Baniya is a Nepali communist politician who served as Minister of Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was elected under the proportional representation system from CPN UML.

Uma Shankar Aragriya is a Nepalese politician belonging to the CPN (UML) who served as the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation since 4 June 2021 but was removed from the post by Supreme Court on 22 June 2021 making his tenure of just 18 days one of the shortest till date. He was also a member of the 1st Federal Parliament of Nepal after winning in 2017 Nepalese general election from Dhanusha 2 constituency. Arglariya formerly a popular leader, is thought to join Nepali Congress as his party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party went clean swept in Dhanusha district in recent local level election.

Ekbal Miya is a Nepalese politician and was Minister of Youth and Sports of Government of Nepal since 4 June 2021 but was removed from the post by Supreme Court on 22 June 2021. He started his political life in 2043 BS from ANNFSU but in 2073 BS he joined the then Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party, became a central committee member of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal and is currently a People's Socialist Party, Nepal leader.

Nain Kala Thapa is a Nepali politician and was Minister of Information and Communications of Government of Nepal. She is the wife of former Home Minister of Nepal Ram Bahadur Thapa. Nainakala Thapa has been entrusted with the responsibility of the Government of Nepal spokesperson. The role of spokesperson is normally given to the Minister of Information and Communications.
