ThunderCats is an platform game for the Nintendo DS developed by Aspect and published by Bandai Namco Games. It is based on the 2011 animated series of the same name, and was released in North America in October 2012 and Europe in November 2012. It is the first game in the franchise to be released since ThunderCats: The Lost Eye of Thundera appeared on various home computers in 1987.
ThunderCats is a 2D platform game where players control Lion-O, leader of the ThunderCats, who uses his Sword of Omens to defeat enemies. Players traverse the game's levels dispatching enemies and battling bosses, and are able to call upon other members of Lion-O's team to briefly assist him once unlocked: Panthro, Cheetara, Tygra, and WilyKit with WilyKat. [2] Lion-O's abilities include a slide, double-jump, and downward stab attack, as well as the ability to fire a beam of light from the Eye of Thundera in his sword's hilt once his power gauge has been filled. [3] Still images from the 2011 ThunderCats animated series accompany story interludes between levels. [4]
The game was developed by Aspect Digital Entertainment and published by Namco Bandai Games, making an appearance at the company's booth during the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. [5] An original release period of August 2012 was announced in April of that year. [6] In a July Bandai Namco Entertainment press statement, ThunderCats was later set for release on September 28, 2012, [7] but was delayed again until the following October in North America and November in Europe. [1] It ultimately debuted four months after the final episode of the animated series aired in June 2012, following Cartoon Network's decision to not renew the show for a second season. [5]

The game received "generally unfavorable reviews" according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. [8] Critics routinely panned the title's overly-simplistic gameplay and sub-par graphics, with Nintendo Power calling it "an incredibly simple side-scrolling romp through boring levels populated by similar looking enemies". [11] Philip J. Reed of Nintendo Life remarked that it was "about as bad as a game can get while still remaining functional", lambasting its repetitive action and slow pacing. [4] In her review for Destructoid , James Stephanie Sterling called ThunderCats "a truly disgusting DS game", drawing attention to its substandard graphics and gameplay, declaring that it "looks like a slightly below average SEGA Genesis title, and plays like a dumbed-down Golden Axe ." ThunderCats is an animated science fantasy television series produced by Rankin/Bass Animated Entertainment and Leisure Concepts. It debuted in 1985, based on the characters created by Tobin Wolf. The series, for which Leonard Starr was the head writer, follows the adventures of a group of catlike humanoid aliens. The animation for the episodes was provided by the Japanese studio Pacific Animation Corporation, with Masaki Iizuka as production manager. The studio was acquired in 1989 to form Walt Disney Animation Japan. Season 1 of the show aired in 1985, consisting of 65 episodes. Seasons 2, 3, and 4 each contained twenty episodes, starting with a five-part story.

Mr. Driller is a puzzle video game franchise created by Yasuhito Nagaoka and Hideo Yoshizawa for Namco. The eponymous first game was released in 1999 for arcades and several home consoles, such as the PlayStation. Gameplay in the series consists of controlling Susumu Hori, the titular Mr. Driller, or one of his friends and destroying colorful formations of blocks to make it to the bottom of a well. In order to survive, players need to collect air capsules to replenish their depleting oxygen and avoid being crushed by falling blocks.

Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans, known in Japan as Dragon Ball Kai: Saiyan Invasion, is a video game based on the Dragon Ball franchise for the Nintendo DS. It was released in Japan on April 29, 2009, and in Europe and North America in November 2009. Tank! Tank! Tank! is a 2009 third-person shooter arcade game developed and published by Namco Bandai Games. It was ported to the Wii U in 2012, where it was a system launch title in North America. Players control their respective tanks and must destroy opponents and giant mechanical monsters with a variety of weapons, such as machine guns and rocket launchers. Go Vacation is a 2011 party video game developed and released by Bandai Namco Games for the Wii and Nintendo Switch. It is the third game in the We Ski series and a spin-off to the prior two main titles. Up to four players can compete against each other in over 50 sport-based minigames that take place in four fictional island resorts. ThunderCats Roar is an American animated television series developed by Victor Courtright and Marly Halpern-Graser for Cartoon Network. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, it premiered on February 22, 2020. It is the third television series in the ThunderCats franchise after the original series and the 2011 television series. It is Jules Bass's only solo work without his partner Arthur Rankin Jr., who died in January 2014, and Bass's last television production before his death in October 2022. The show's premise is similar to the original series; in which the ThunderCats escape their dying homeworld Thundera, crash-land on Third Earth, and face off against various villains led by the evil overlord Mumm-Ra. Like Teen Titans Go!, ThunderCats Roar sports a more light-hearted, comedic tone than previous incarnations. The series received a mixed reception from critics, while being panned by fans of the original show for its character designs, humor and characterizations, and it ended on December 5, 2020, being cancelled after just one season.
